Online Tracking System/Portals for Missing Children

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has developed web portals “TrackChild” and “Khoya-Paya” to track the missing and found children. The TrackChild Portal is implemented in association with various stakeholders including Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Railways, State Governments/UT Administrations, Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards, National Legal Services Authority, etc. and the “Khoya-Paya” has been integrated as a citizen corner on TrackChild portal.

  • As per Section 2 (14) (i) of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJ Act), a child who is found without any home or settled place of abode and without any ostensible means of subsistence is included as a “child in need of care and protection.”

India’s first National Park for differently abled people inaugurated in Hyderabad

Telangana government has inaugurated country’s first National Park for people with special needs in Hyderabad. The park has speech therapist, physiotherapist, vocational training instructors for the differently-abled children. The park will benefit those differently-abled children, who want to move forward and thrive in life

Haryana first to launch high-risk pregnancy portal

Haryana has achieved the distinction of becoming the first state in the country to launch high-risk pregnancy portal. This portal not only helps in early identification of high-risk pregnant cases up to the grassroots but also ensures their timely referral to the civil hospitals for further management and delivery by specialists.

26th World Book Fair opens in Delhi

With Environment and Climate Change as its main theme, the 26th edition of the annual book fair, will be held in Delhi at Pragati Maidan from January 6.

  • Organised by National Book Trust, in association with ITPO, the events Theme Pavillion will have an international rights exhibition of nearly 500 titles published in English, Hindi, and other Indian languages.

Paytm Payments Bank, IndusInd tie up for FD facility

Paytm Payments Bank has partnered Induslnd Bank to introduce a facility to create a fixed deposit when the customer balance exceeds Rs. 1 lakh at the end of day. Paytm Payments Bank customers can redeem their deposits instantly, anytime without paying any pre-closure or miscellaneous charges and can earn up to 6.85 per cent annual interest.

Yes Bank, Nearby Tech bring cardless-pinless ATM service

Fintech startup Nearby Technologies has tied up with Yes Bank to provide Aadhaar- enabled cardless and pinless ATM service called PayNEARBY  by which customers can deposit or withdraw money at retailers’ place.

  • Using the PayNEARBY mobile application on a smart phone, a retailer can become an Aadhaar ATM/Aadhaar Bank branch for cash withdrawals and deposits by a customer.


ECONOMY

Banking sector posts 10.7 pct YoY growth in Dec’17

The banking sector sustained its growth momentum post the Centre’s public sector bank (PSB) recapitalisation plan by driving a significant surge in credit growth.

  • As per latest statistics, the banking sector posted a double digit growth of 10.7 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth in December 2017, up from 7.2 percent in October last year.

GDP FY18 estimates are likely to grow at 6.5 percent: SBI

According to the Economic Research Department of State Bank of India (SBI), the GDP FY18 estimates are likely to grow at 6.5 percent compared to the growth rate of 7.1 percent in FY17.

GVA expected to trend higher to 6.3-6.4%: SBI Ecowrap

According to State Bank of India (SBI) Ecowrap report, the gross value added (GVA) — the total value of goods and services produced — estimate for 2017-18 is expected to trend higher at 6.3-6.4 per cent from the projected 6.1 per cent.

India’s High Commissioner to Kuala Lumpur T S Tirumurti has been appointed as the Secretary (Economic Relations) in the External Affairs Ministry by the government.
