India’s first Carbon Neutral Farm inaugurated in Kerala
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced a seed farm in Aluva at Kochi as India’s first carbon-neutral farm.
- A significant reduction in carbon emission has helped the seed farm, under the Agricultural Department, achieve carbon neutral status, he said making the announcement.
- The total amount of carbon emission from the farm, located at Thuruthu in Aluva, in the last one year was 43 tons but its overall procurement was 213 ton, he said.
Tamil Nadu becomes first state to launch its own Climate Change Mission
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission to protect the natural resources in the state besides restoring them on a long-term basis.
- The state will achieve carbon neutrality much ahead of 2070 target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said while launching the pioneering initiative, which takes the climate agenda on priority with district missions and climate officers already in place in the state.
- The state is the first to launch its own Climate Change Mission to make Tamil Nadu a climate-smart state.

Indian TV Artist Dev Joshi to accompany Yusaku Maezawa for a trip around Moon
Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa announced eight crew members who will join him for a journey around the Moon planned for 2023 on a SpaceX rocket that is still under development.
- The mission, known as dearMoon, was first announced in 2018. Maezawa initially said he would invite a crew of six-to-eight artists, but later changed the entry requirements to a competition which applicants could apply for online.
- The eight people chosen were DJ and producer Steve Aoki of the United States; Tim Dodd, an American YouTuber; Czech artist Yemi AD; Rhiannon Adam, an Irish photographer; British photographer Karim Iliya; American filmmaker Brendan Hall; and Indian actor Dev Joshi, and K-pop musician TOP of South Korea.

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
Congress’s Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took oath as the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, days after the Congress party edged the BJP out of power in the recently held Assembly election.
- Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also took oath with him. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath to both.
- Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was the general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh unit of the Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). Later, he became the president of NSUI.
- For the first time he won the assembly elections in 2003 from Nadaun in Hamirpur district. He then retained the seat in 2007 but lost it again in 2012 and won it again in 2017 and 2022.
Sushmita Shukla appointed as VP & COO, Federal Reserve Bank
Sushmita Shukla, an Indian-origin veteran of the insurance industry, has been appointed as First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, making her the second-ranking officer at the prominent institution.
- Shukla, 54, has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective March 2023.
Legendary PT Usha elected as first woman president of Indian Olympic Association
The legendary former athlete PT Usha has been formally elected as the first woman president of Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
- The 58-year-old Usha is a multiple Asian Games gold medallist and a fourth-place finisher in the 1984 Olympics 400m hurdles final.
- Ajay H Patel has been elected as senior Vice President, Rajlaxmi Singh Deo and Gagan Narang as Vice Presidents of the Indian Olympic Association

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on 12 November announced the winners of the ICC Player of the Month awards for November 2022.
- England’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Jos Buttler was named the ICC Player of the Month for the first time after his stellar performance in November.Playing his 100th T20 match against New Zealand in Brisbane, opener Buttler played a key role in the victory, scoring 73 off 47 balls
- Pakistan’s Sidra Amin became the country’s second consecutive winner of the Women’s Player of the Month award after a stellar performance in the ODI series win against Ireland.Sidra played an unbeaten inning of 176 runs against Ireland in the month of November, this was also the highest score of his cricket career.
Deepika Padukone to unveil FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy
Actor Deepika Padukone will be according to media reports.
- She is expected to unveil the World Cup trophy on December18, at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar, say reports citing sources close to her team.
- The 36-year-old actor will be the first to receive such recognition at one of the world’s most-watched sporting events.

Hindustan Unilever acquires D2C brands OZiva and Wellbeing Nutrition
Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) major Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) announced the acquisition of two D2C brands – OZiva and Wellbeing Nutrition. With the acquisition, the company will foray into the health and well-being category.
- Investments into D2C brands continued throughout the year even as funding for start-ups dried up. HUL said the well-being category has a total potential market size of ₹30,000 crore.
- Marico picked up 54% stake in True Elements, another healthy snacking and breakfast brand, while HUL itself has launched some of its own beauty and personal care brands like Dove Baby, Love Beauty and Planet, Simple and Dermalogica.

Japan’s ispace Launches World’s First Commercial Moon Lander
A Japanese space startup has launched its own private lander to the Moon aboard a SpaceX rocket, marking a significant step towards what would be a historic first, both for the nation and a private company.
- The Tokyo-based ispace Inc’s HAKUTO-R mission took off without incident from Cape Canaveral, Florida, after two postponements caused by inspections of its SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
- The ispace craft aims to put a small NASA satellite into lunar orbit to search for water deposits before touching down in the Atlas Crater, which lies in the northeastern section of the Moon’s near side and measures more than 87km (54 miles) across and just over 2km (1.2 miles) deep.
