India logs 6.2 percent hike in death rate during 2020: CRS data
The Central government has released the Civil Registration System (CRS) report 2020 based on birth and death reports.According to the report, the number of registered births has decreased from 2.48 crore in 2019 to 2.42 crore in the year 2020 showing a decrease of about 2.40 percent.
- The Vital Statistics of India based on the Civil Registration System’ for 2020 report said that case of registered deaths, the number has increased from 76.4 lakh in the year 2019 to 81.2 lakhs in 2020 showing an increase of 6.2 percent. Out of the total registered deaths, the share of males is 60.2 percent and the female share is 39.8 percent.
- Some states and union territories namely Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam, and Haryana have contributed significantly to the increased number of deaths registered from 2019 to 2020.
Centre sanctions Rs 120 crore for Ladakh under AMRUT 2.0
The Centre sanctioned 120 crore rupees for the Union Territory of Ladakh under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0, AMRUT.
- Under the State Water Action Plans of AMRUT 2.0, the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry sanctioned the first Sewerage Treatment Plant for Kargil and extended of existing sewerage network in Leh town.
- The UT Administration envisaged the projects for 24×7 urban water supply, sewerage system, development of parks and rejuvenation of water bodies in the proposals to the centre.
Govt notifies new J&K electoral map
Redrawing the electoral map of Jammu and Kashmir, a three-member Delimitation Commission earmarked 47 Assembly seats for Kashmir division and 43 for Jammu in its final order submitted just a day before its two-year tenure was to end.
- A gazette notification was issued after the panel, headed by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, signed the final order giving Jammu six additional seats and one more to Kashmir.
- Before the restructuring, which takes the total number of Assembly seats in the Union Territory to 90, Jammu had 37 Assembly constituencies, and Kashmir 46.

As per the reports, the Asian country has opened a glass-bottomed bridge suspended above a lush jungle.It surpasses a 526m Glass Bottom Bridge in Guangdong, China.

India has been unanimously elected as the new Chair of the Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA) for 2022-2024 at the recently held meeting of the Executive Board and General Assembly in Manila, Philippines.
- The Election Commission of India’s three-member delegation headed by Deputy Election Commissioner Nitesh Vyas, along with CEO Manipur Rajesh Agrawal and CEO Rajasthan Praveen Gupta, attended the Executive Board meeting in Manila.

Hdfc Bank Launches Digital 30-Minute ‘Xpress Car Loan’
Private sector lender HDFC Bank has launched a 30-minute ‘Xpress Car Loans’, which is an end-to-end digital new car loan journey for existing customers as well as non-customers.
- The bank has integrated its lending application with automobile dealers across the country. It expects about 20 per cent to 30 per cent of customers to avail of the facility for loans up to ₹20 lakh.
UPI hits record high in April with 5.58 bn transactions worth Rs 9.83 trn
India’s flagship digital payments platform Unified Payments Interface (UPI), saw its highest ever number of transactions in April 2022 at 5.58 billon, amounting to Rs 9.83 trillion.
- In March, UPI breached 5-billion transactions in a month for the first time. In April, volume of transactions was up 3.33 per cent and value of transactions rose 2.36 per cent compared to March.
- In March, UPI processed 5.4 billion transactions amounting to Rs 9.6 trillion.

Sebi Forms Advisory Committee For Esg-related Matters
The Securities and Exchange Board of India has formed an advisory committee for advising on Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) related matters pertaining to the securities markets.

- Besides, the committee comprises industry experts like R. According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, Rajasthan became the first state in India to reach 10 GW of cumulative large-scale solar installations.
