PM Modi Inaugurates Mahakal Corridor In Ujjain
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the ₹850 crore Mahakaleshwar Temple Corridor Development Project in Ujjain, saying that India was throwing off the shackles of colonial mentality in reclaiming its place as a world leader and its leadership will pave the way for world peace.

  • With the Mahakaleshwar temple decked up in celebratory lights and decoration, Modi inaugurated the new corridor — named Shri Mahakal Lok — by pressing a remote and unveiled a 15-foot-high shivling at the main gate of the 250-year-old temple.

Haryana Govt and Dubai ink an MoU for Economic Cooperation
The Haryana government has finalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Dubai, the governing authority of the Emirate of Dubai, for cooperation in various economic activities.

  • These activities include investment promotion and land development, including but not limited to real estate development, industrial parks, IT parks, multi-purpose towers, mixed use townships, innovation centres and projects related to logistics in Haryana, the state government said in a statement.

Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Indian Roads Congress in Lucknow
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 81st annual convention of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) in Uttar Pradesh after 11 years. Nearly 1,500 delegates will participate in the event to be held at Indira Gandi Pratishthan in Lucknow.

  • A total of 200 delegates from Uttar Pradesh will attend the convention and they will be made aware of the spiritual and cultural features of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mathura, and other places after the convention.
  • The convention is spread across 19 phases wherein the UP delegates will conduct a technical session.

India and Japan signed an MoU to develop scientific collaboration for Indian Ayurveda
All India Institute of Ayurveda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST), Japan.The MoU is aimed at capacity development, technological cooperation for academic establishment.

  • The MoU will make it possible for both nations to advance scientific cooperation and capacity building in the area of the Indian Ayurvedic system of traditional medicine. All of these initiatives will be carried out with aid from the Ministry of Ayush.


INTERNATIONAL NEWS

India-US Announce Launch of New Energy Storage Task Force
India and the United States announced the launch of a new energy task force to support large-scale integration of renewable energy needed to support the clean energy transition.

  • The announcement of the initiative, which will further strengthen the India-US partnership in the critical energy sector to an altogether new level, came following a bilateral meeting between Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
  • During the meeting the two leaders underscored the critical importance of bilateral clean energy engagement to strengthen energy security and to accelerate clean, secure, and just energy transition.

EU approves adoption of world’s first single charger rule
The European Union parliament has passed a new law stating that all new smartphones, tablets and cameras will have a single standard charger, which shall be implemented from late 2024.

  • As per the new law, in the first phase, all mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU will have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port. Then from spring 2026, the rule will be extended to laptops.


BANKING & FINANCE

NSIC and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank signs MoU
The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC), a Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of MSME signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank in New Delhi under its Bank tie-up Scheme.

  • This MoU arrangement with banks aims to support the MSMEs with their credit requirements.

‘Smart Wire Service’ introduced by ICICI Bank introduced
ICICI Bank has launched a unique solution, Smart Wire, for its customers to help them with SWIFT-based inward remittances in a faster and hassle-free manner.

  • ICICI Bank, which is the first bank in the country to launch such a service, said that the Smart Wire facility will allow both NRIs and resident customers to undertake inward remittance transactions in an online and paperless way.
  • As per the details, the Smart Wire facility enables the beneficiary to initiate the wire transfer request, submit online declaration/documents, block the exchange rates in advance and track the status of the transaction. One can log in to ICICI bank’s internet banking platform, and avail of the service.


BUSINESS & ECONOMY

Hero MotoCorp Launched EV Scooter Vida V1 in India
Hero MotoCorp has taken the wraps off their new electric scooter under the sub-brand, Vida. The automaker launched the V1 as the first electric scooter of the brand, as it looks to catch up with newer firms who have taken the lead in the country’s clean mobility push.

  • There will be two other variants on offer, V1 Pro and V1 Plus. The Vida V1 Pro is priced at ₹1.59 lakh (ex-showroom) whereas the Vida V1 Plus comes at a price of ₹1.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • The Hero Vida V1 would be first launched in New Delhi, Jaipur and Bangalore. Deliveries of this electric scooter will commence from the second week of December. Interestingly, the Vida V1 will compete against Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X Gen3 , Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.

Indian Army celebrated 73rd Raising Day of Territorial Army
The 73rd Raising Day of Territorial Army was celebrated across the country on 9th October 2022 to commemorate its raising by the first Governor General C Rajagopalachari on this day in 1949.

  • The celebrations commenced with tree plantation at Bhatti Mines in Delhi, wherein 10 thousand saplings were planted. The Ecological task forces of Territorial Army have so far planted more than 8.5 Crore trees in various parts of the country.
