Centre amends Aadhaar Rules
The Centre amended Aadhaar regulations, advising card holders to update documents supporting their information at least once every 10 years from the date of enrolment to ensure the accuracy of the data.

  • However, people in the know said updating documents was not mandatory but would be encouraged. The amendment made to the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations said users may update their documents to ensure the continued accuracy of their information in the Central Identities Data Repository.

Indian Army launches ‘Veerangana Sewa Kendra’ for Veer Naris
Indian Army has launched a single window facility – Veerangana Sewa Kendra (VSK) for welfare and grievances redressal of Veer Naris.

  • The system caters to registering grievances with tracking, monitoring, and regular feedback to the applicant.

Odisha to be made slum-free by 2023-end, land rights for 2.5 lakh families: CM
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said his government is aiming at making Odisha slum-free by the end of 2023.

  • He launched a survey using drones to facilitate a process to provide land deeds to slum-dwellers in five municipal areas across the state.
  • The land survey was taken in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur civic body areas under the state government’s ‘Jaga Mission’ programme. During an event, Patnaik declared Hinjili and Digapahandi towns in Gajman district as “slum free” and dedicated 707 ‘Biju Adarsh Colonies’ in 33 urban areas.


US Treasury Removes India From Its Currency Monitoring List
The United States Department of Treasury has taken off India’s name from the from its Currency Monitoring List of major trading partners.

  • In its biannual report to Congress, the US’ Treasury Department conveyed that along with India, it had also removed Mexico, Thailand, Italy and Vietnam from the list.
  • With this, seven economies that are now on the current monitoring list include Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Germany, Malaysia and Taiwan.


Moody’s Cuts India’s Economic Growth Projections To 7% For 2022
Global ratings agency Moody’s Investors Service lowered India’s economic growth forecast for 2022 to 7% from 7.7% estimated earlier, in view of the tightening monetary policy environment, uneven distribution of monsoon, higher inflation and slowing global growth.

  • It expects the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise the repo rate further by 50 basis points to anchor inflation expectations and support the exchange rate.
  • Moody’s has also lowered the growth forecast for 2023 to 4.8% from 5.2% estimated earlier. After the deceleration, the rating agency projects India’s economic growth to recover to 6.4% in 2024.


Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20: Mumbai beats Himachal in final to clinch maiden title
Sarfaraz Khan’s fine unbeaten 36 and Tanush Kotian’s all-round showing propelled 41-time Ranji Trophy champion Mumbai to its maiden title win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament at the Eden Gardens.

  • Sarfaraz scored 36 runs, while Kotian claimed three wickets as Mumbai beat Himachal Pradesh at the Eden Gardens.
  • Himachal was given the opportunity to bat first and scored 143/8 in 20 overs, with Ekant Sen (37 off 29) leading the way. Mumbai’s response saw them reach their goal with three wickets remaining in 19.3 overs.


Ramesh Kejriwal elected new president of All India Rubber Industries Association
All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) has elected Ramesh Kejriwal of India Oil Seals and Synthetic Products, Kolkata, as its president and Shashi Singh as the senior vice president for the year 2022-23. Kejriwal will be succeeding Sawar Dhanania.

  • Recently Kejriwal was the Managing Committee Member of AIRIA and has previously served as the Eastern Region Chairman and on various committees of AIRIA.  Under his leadership, India Oil Seals and Synthetic Products has emerged as one of the most significant manufacturers of rubber-lined pipe fittings, tanks, and hoses.


Bihari Puraskar to Noted writers Madhu Kankaria and Dr. Madhav Hada
Noted writers Madhu Kankariya and Dr Madhav Hada were awarded the 31st and 32nd Bihari Puraskar, respectively.

  • The Bihari Puraskar is one of the three literary awards instituted by KK Birla Foundation in 1991. Named after the famous poet Bihari, the award for Rajasthani authors carries a cash prize of ₹2.5 lakh, a plaque and a citation.
  • Kankariya was awarded the Puraskar for her 2018 novel ‘Hum Yahan The’ while Hada was awarded for his 2015 literary criticism book ‘Pachrang Chola Pahar Sakhi Ri’.


Father of modern election science, Sir David Butler, passes away at 98
Sir David Butler, dubbed the “father of election science”, has died at the age of 98.

  • Butler became a diligent student of philosophy, politics, and economics at New College, Oxford. His studies were disrupted when he was commissioned as a lieutenant to serve in the Second World War. Butler developed upon a long­forgotten Edwardian equation called “the cube rule” for his research on elections as an undergraduate.
  • He discovered that he was able to estimate the total number of seats won from the polling numbers, enabling him to forecast the seats likely to be won by any party based on opinion polls.


Odisha government observed 10th November as ‘Millet Day’ in the state
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced to observe the first Thursday of the Margasira month of the Hindu calendar on November 10 as ‘Mandia Day’ or ‘Millet Day’ in the state.

  • Its objective is to popularise and promote the use and cultivation of superfood- millet among the people.
  • To create domestic and global demand and to provide nutritional food to the people, government of India proposed to the United Nations and the year 2023 is declared as the International Year of Millets.
