Uddhav Thackeray approves renaming of Latur Medical College after former CM Vilasrao Deshmukh
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has approved the renaming of the Latur Medical College as Vilasrao Deshmukh Institute of Medical Sciences.

  • The late Vilasrao Deshmukh had served as the former CM of Maharashtra.

Portugal to help Goa in water supply, sewerage management
Portugal and Goa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on augmenting water supply and sewerage management shortly after President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s arrival in the western coastal town.

  • The MoU will pave the way for cooperation between the two countries for showcasing common Maritime Heritage.
  • India and Portugal signed an agreement to develop a world-class National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal in Gujarat.

80th All India Industrial Exhibition held in Hyderabad
The 80th All India Industrial Exhibition was held at the Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad, Telangana.

  • The exhibition has remained the only event of its kind in the world to be organised at a stretch for a 46-day period at its 23-acre (93,000 m2) permanent venue in Nampally.
  • Till now, 16.77 lakh people have visited our All India Industrial Exhibition

PM flags off Kashi Mahakal Express
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Kashi Mahakal Express (Varanasi-Indore) via video conferencing.

  • The train will connect the three Jyotirling pilgrim centres of Varanasi, Ujjain and Omkareshwar.

PM unveils statue of Deendayal Upadhyaya in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 63-feet tall statue of former Bhartiya Jana Sangh leader Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya.

  • The ‘Pancha Loha’ statue is the tallest statue of the leader in the country.
  • He also inaugurated the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Memorial Centre.

Gadkari attends Global Conference On Road Safety In Stockholm
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was represent India at the third High-Level Global Conference on Road Safety for Achieving Global Goals 2030 in Stockholm.

  • The objective of the conference is to bring road safety on the global agenda and renew the world community’s commitment to safer roads. Leaders from participating countries will draw up a road-map for reaching the United Nation’s goal set under the UN Decade of Action of reducing road crashes by 2030.

India takes over CMS COP 13 presidency for three years
India will chair the presidency of Conference of Parties (COP 13) to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals for three years. India will succeed Philippines which was COP 12 President from 2017.

  • India also took over UNCCD COP Presidency combating desertification for two years.

Moody’s revises India GDP forecast to 5.4 pc in 2020
Moody’s Investors Service revised its growth forecasts for India to 5.4 per cent for 2020 calendar year and 5.8 per cent for 2021, down from its previous projections of 6.6 per cent and 6.7 per cent.

  • The country’s real GDP grew at a meagre 4.5 per cent in Q3 2019. Improvements in the latest high-frequency indicators such as PMI data suggest that the economy may have stabilised

India’s squash ace Joshna Chinappa has clinched 77th Senior National Championship in woman’s category at the ISA courts in Chennai

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games revealed the official motto, “United by Emotion” for the upcoming 2020 Olympics.

Indian-origin minister Alok Sharma to lead UN climate summit
Indian-origin Alok Sharma was named the new UK minister in charge of the crunch UN climate talks to be hosted by Britain this November.

  • Sharma, promoted to the post of Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Cabinet reshuffle, will take charge of the crucial summit COP26′ as its former president was removed amid controversy just weeks ago.

Old-Timer Manoj Jain Takes Charge As GAIL’s CMD
Government-owned GAIL India Ltd announced that Manoj Jain has assumed charge as its Chairman and Managing Director.

  • He was till now Director for Business Development. Earlier, he served as Chairman of GAIL Global (USA) Inc, GAIL Global (USA) LNG LLC and Konkan LNG Pvt Ltd.
