ELECRAMA 2020 inaugurated in Noida by Prakash Javadekar
Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and R K Singh inaugurated Elecrama, organised by industry body IEEMA which is targeting businesses worth Rs 30,000 crore during the five-day event here.

  • The focus of this year’s event is on e-mobility, energy storage, start-ups, grid transformation, revenue security with special attention on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), said Anil Saboo, the executive council member of the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA).

9th International Children’s Film Festival begins in Kolkata
The 9th International Children’s Film Festival begins with the screening of Aizaz Khan directed Hamid in Kolkata , West Bengal.About 250 films from 45 countries will be screened in the week-long festival.

Industrial Meet of ‘Wings India’-Asia’s largest Civil Aviation Event held at Bengaluru
Indian aviation and technology leaders gathered in Bengaluru for industry meet ahead of “Wings India 2020”, Asia’s largest civil aviation event.

  • Wings India 2020, a flagship event of the Indian Civil Aviation industry will be held at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad from 12-15 March 2020.
  • ‘Wings India 2020’- a four-day event themed: “Flying for All’’ is an international platform focused on the new business acquisition, investments, policy formation and regional connectivity in the civil aviation industry.

Gujarat leads in water efficiency survey 2019 under National hydrology project
Gujarat has been ranked the top on efficiency targets in the review of state and Central government water departments by the ministry of Jal Shakti, Delhi remains in the worst-performing state category according to the ranking for 2019 circulated to different state governments recently, according to a ranking done by the government. Among the states that significantly improved its ranking was Tamil Nadu, which stood at 13th position as compared to 33 in 2018.

Krishi Manthan 2020 held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat
In Gujarat, the first edition of Krishi Manthan- the largest Food, Agri-business and Rural Development Summit of Asia held in Ahmedabad , Gujarat .

  • More than 1,500 delegates including students and academicians are participating in the two-day event organized by the Food and Agribusiness Committee of IIMA.

Vinesh Phogat shines with gold medal at the Rome Ranking Series
A dominant Vinesh Phogat won her first gold medal of the 2020 season at the Rome Ranking Series event after teen sensation Anshu Malik settled for a silver in 57kg competition in Rome. She won by technical superiority against Khrystyna Bereza (10-0) and Lannuan Luo (15-5) before getting the better of Qianyu Pang (4-2).

Arjun Munda becomes the president of Archery Association of India
Union minister Arjun Munda was elected as president of the suspended Archery Association of India (AAI) in its much-delayed elections, which were held here smoothly in the presence of three observers. Munda’s entire panel secured majority share of votes and were elected for a full tenure of four years.

Nripendra Misra appointed as the chairman of NMML by GoI 
Nripendra Misra, former principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been appointed the chairman of the executive council of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, the highest decision making body of the institution

  • .The eight-member council has also been reconstituted, with Prasar Bharati Chairman A Surya Prakash as the new the vice chairman, replacing MJ Akbar, former minister and BJP member who resigned from the cabinet following allegations of sexual harassment.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

India successfully test-fired K-4 Ballistic Missile from Andhra Pradesh
Further strengthening its capabilities to hit enemy targets from submarines, successfully test-fired the 3,500 km strike range nuclear-capable K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile off the coast of Andhra Pradesh.

  • The missile is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for being deployed on the fleet of the Arihant Class nuclear submarines being built by India.

15th Raising Day celebrated by National Disaster Response Force
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) celebrated its 15th Raising Day on 19th January, 2020.  NDRF has so far imparted training to more than 4000 volunteers  and has a target to give  training to  more than 70000 volunteers by 2024  at the local levels in different parts of the country.

National Immunization Day (NID) – January 19, 2019
National Immunization Day (NID) also known as ‘Polio Ravivar’ was observed on January 19, 2020. The Pulse Polio Programme 2020 was conducted as a part of National Immunization Day across the country. The programme aims to protect children less than five years from Polio disease and to eliminate Poliomyelitis in India.
