Department of Consumer Affairs sets up committee to develop comprehensive framework on right to repair
The Department of Consumer Affairs has set up a committee under the leadership of Additional Secretary Nidhi Khatri to develop a comprehensive framework on the right to repair. The aim of the framework is to empower consumers and product buyers in the local market and harmonize trade between the original equipment manufacturers and the third-party buyers and sellers. Its aim is also to emphasize developing sustainable consumption of products and reduction in e-waste.
Made in India surgical robotic system installed at Rajiv Gandhi Institute
Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCI) in Delhi has installed a first-ever “made in India surgical robotic system”, SSI-Mantra, devised by a new-age medical technology start-up that will make robotic surgery more accessible to patients.
- The system is a visionary project of the Indraprastha Cancer Society and Research Centre aimed at providing the best of oncological care to those who need it.
Fintech startup OneCard becomes India’s 104th unicorn post $100 mn funding
Fintech firm OneCard has become the latest entrant to the unicorn club (104th) after it raised about $100 Mn (about INR 802 Cr) in a fresh funding round. The new Series D funding round was led by Singapore’s sovereign fund Temasek, which invested INR 375 cr. QED Holdings, Matrix Partners and Hummingbird also participated in the round.

52nd BGB-BSF DG level conference held in Dhaka
The 52nd BGB-BSF Director General level Border conference held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Indian team was led by DG, BSF Pankaj Singh in Dhaka. The two sides discussed a wide range of issues related to border management, smuggling of arms and ammunition, drugs, trafficking of women and children and various developmental activities within the 150 yards of the international border.
- During the course of the conference, the Indian delegation will also visit Padma Bridge and Cox’s Bazar as part of strengthening bilateral relations and increasing goodwill between the two countries.
New Zealand ranked Worst Destination for Expats in 2022
In a survey by InterNations, New Zealand turned out to rank the worst destination for expats in 2022. On top, was Mexico, scoring super high with regard to ease of settling in, food and local friendliness.
- India ranked 36 followed by the UK at 37th. Egypt-35th. India stood out for its affordability and availability of health care.

Chess: Indian Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram wins tournament in Spain
Indian Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged winner in the 41st Villa De Benasque International Chess Open after edging Armenia’s Robert Hovhannisyan and compatriot Raunak Sadhwani on the basis of tie-break score.
R Praggnanandhaa wins Paracin Open title
In Chess, young Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa has won the Paracin Open ‘A’ chess tournament 2022 in Serbia. The 16-year-old remained unbeaten and finished half a point ahead of the field.
Singapore Open: Indian shuttler PV Sindhu clinches Women’s Single title
In Badminton, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has clinched Women’s Single title of Singapore Open. The Two-time Olympic medalist defeated Wang Zhi Yi of China, 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 to claim her maiden title in Singapore Open and third title this year after registering wins in Korea Open and Swiss Open.

Former Punjab Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon passes away
Former Punjab Speaker and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, Nirmal Singh Kahlon has passed away at the age of 79. He was the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister from 1997 to 2002 and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 2007 to 2012.
