CM Naveen Patnaik Inaugurated ‘International Craft Summit’ in Odisha
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated an ‘International Craft Summit’ in Jajpur. It is a first of its kind Crafts Summit which brings together leading craftsmen, culture and art enthusiasts.

  • Four United Nations agencies and five UNESCO Creative Cities have partnered to make this ambitious and forward-looking event a reality on behalf of the State Government.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Launched ‘School of Eminence’ Project
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched his government’s ambitious project ‘School of Eminence’, saying it is a ‘revolutionary’ step towards ensuring a bright future for students. A budget of Rs 200 crore has been kept for the ‘School of Eminence’ project. 

  • The objective of this project is to rejuvenate education in government schools and ensure the holistic development of students so that they become responsible citizens. 
  • Under the ‘School of Eminence’ project, 117 government schools in 23 districts will be upgraded, with special emphasis on classes 9 to 12.

Govt to combine CGHS with Ayushman Bharat
The National Health Authority (NHA) is in the process of integrating the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), a government official said.

  • This is aimed at creating digital health identification of CGHS beneficiaries and storing their digital health records, thus ensuring quick treatment to the needy. So far, around 100 million health records have been linked to ABDM.

India’s deepest Metro station coming up at Pune Civil Court
The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) has announced that the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) will inspect a stretch of the Pune Metro in February, and clearances are expected in March. 

  • This line features India’s deepest underground station, which will be ready in a few months at the Civil Court and measures 33.1 metres (108.59 feet) in depth. 
  • The ceiling of the station will be so high that natural sunlight will fall on the floor of the station. Civil Court Station would be the only station with such a unique feature.


Laxman Rawat Won National Sports Club Of India Snooker Open Crown 2023
Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB’s) Laxman Rawat ‘Boulkline’ emerged winner at the NSCI All India Snooker Open, defeating fellow PSPB challenger Aditya Mehta 9-6 in a best-of-17-frame final. 

  • Previously, Laxman Rawat won the runner-up in the last edition of the All India Snooker Open losing to Sourav Kothari in the finals. This win marks Laxman Rawat’s first major title after 2 to 3 years. 


Vikram Dev Dutt named as next DGCA director general
The Centre approved the appointment of IAS officer Vikram Dev Dutt as the next chief of aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

  • Dutt, a 1993 batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the CMD of Air India Assets Holding Ltd (AIAHL). He will take over as the head of the aviation regulator on February 28, upon the superannuation of incumbent DGCA chief Arun Kumar.
  • Earlier, Dutt had also served as the CMD of Air India. He had taken charge in January last year.

Ex-SC judge AK Sikri appointed Administrator of Shooting World Cup 2023
Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri, a retired judge from the Supreme Court, has been appointed by the Delhi High Court as Administrator to manage the use of funds for the next ISSF Shooting World Cup in 2023. The ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol) will take place in March in Bhopal. 

  • The Administrator can also take the assistance of any sportsperson of his choice, who has been a national or international shooter, to assist him in the matter.
  • The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) through the present plea stated that India is hosting World Cup for the shooting sport in March 2023 and the stoppage of funds would affect the hosting of the World Cup. 


PM Modi names 21 islands of Andaman & Nicobar after Param Vir Chakra Awardees
Prime Minister Narendra Modi named the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman & Nicobar after Param Vir Chakra awardees.He also unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji.

  •  The memorial will be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep in Port Blair. The memorial will consist of Netaji’s Museum, Heritage trail, ropeway connected to Port Blair and a children’s park.


UNESCO decides to dedicates 2023 the International Day of Education to Afghan girls and women
Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay has decided to dedicate the 2023 International Day of Education (January 24) to Afghan girls and women. 

  • On the occasion of an event organized at the UN headquarters, UNESCO will renew its call to immediately restore their fundamental right to education
