PM Modi to inaugurate National Youth Festival in Hubballi-Dharwad on Jan 12
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Youth Festival in the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad on January 12.
- The youth festival will mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.Around 7,500 representatives from all states will participate in the youth festival, Bommai said in an official statement.
Country’s first infantary Museum opens for public in Mhow
The country’s first infantry museum will be inaugurated in Mhow cantonment in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, an Army official said.This museum is the first in the country and second in the world.
- The Army inaugurated to celebrate the Victory Day and the eve of the 75th year of the establishment of the Infantry School. The world-class museum has been set up with the intention of showcasing the Infantry. The project was conceived in July 2003 as a national-level training hall cum research centre.
- The Infantry Museum covers the history of the Infantry from 1747 to 2020. It depicts the rich heritage, glorious past and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers preserved in sculptures, murals, and photo galleries.
India’s longest escape tunnel on Banihal-Katra rail link completed
India’s longest escape tunnel, which is 12.89 km long constructed on the 111 km under-construction Banihal-Katra railway line in Jammu and Kashmir was completed by the Indian Railways. The longest tunnel is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project.
- This is the fourth tunnel on the Banihal-Katra route following the 12.75 km tunnel T-49, the longest tunnel of the Indian Railways, which was completed in January this year.
- The escape tunnel has been constructed to facilitate rescue work if an emergency situation arises. The tunnel is a modified horseshoe shape tunnel connecting the Sumber Station yard on the Southside and Tunnel T-50 after crossing Bridge no.04 over Khoda Nallah on the North side, at Khoda village.

Sri Lanka, Russia to use Indian rupee for international trade
Sri Lanka has agreed to use the Indian rupee (INR) for foreign trade after the Indian government said that it is looking for ways to bring countries into the ambit of the Indian rupee trade settlement mechanism that has a shortage of dollars.
- Reportedly, Sri Lankan banks have opened special rupee trading accounts called ‘Special Vostro rupee accounts, or SVRA‘ for trading in INR.
- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has stated that it is waiting for the approval of RBI (Reserve Bank of India) to appoint the Indian Rupee as the foreign currency of Sri Lanka.

FIFA picks Morocco to host Club World Cup in February 2023
Morocco was rewarded by FIFA with hosting rights for the next Club World Cup in February, with an expanded 32-team edition set to launch in 2025.
- The most recent edition of the tournament was held in the UAE in February 2022 and was won by the English football club, Chelsea.
- European champion Real Madrid, South American champion Flamengo and Seattle Sounders, the first CONCACAF Champions League winner from the United States, will play in the traditional seven-team tournament from Feb. 1-11.
Goa to host First Ever World Table Tennis (WTT) Series event in India
Goa will host India’s first ever World Table Tennis (WTT) series event from February 27 to March 5. The top tier WTT Star Contender Goa 2023 will take place at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor stadium, located at the Goa University Campus.
- Stupa Analytics, a homegrown sports analytics firm, will be the tournament host with active support from the Goa government.

The winners of the 2022 Sahitya Akademi awards were announced. The awards are given to writers in 23 Indian languages, including translations. This year, Anuradha Roy’s All the Lives We Never Lived won the award in the English language category, while N Kalyan Raman’s translation of Perumal Murugan’s Tamil novel Poonachi into English won the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation.
- The award, in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque, a shawl, and cash prize will be presented to the awardees at a ceremony. Authors will receive a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 each, and translators, Rs 50,000 each, for their winning books.

The Government has said, the country’s maiden human space flight mission, Gaganyaan, is targeted to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024. This was stated by Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
