Shirui Lily Festival started in Manipur

Manipur’s much-awaited five-day Shirui Lily State Festival, commenced in the Ukhrul district headquarters. The festival will continue till 28th of April 2018.

The festival, organized by the State Tourism Department, aims to spread awareness and conserve the endangered state flower ‘Shirui Lily’, while also promote the hill district as a potential tourist destination.

Cabinet approves restructured National Bamboo Mission

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved centrally-sponsored National Bamboo Mission (NBM) under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) for the remaining period of the 14th Finance Commission till 2019-20.

An outlay of Rs 1,290 crore (with Rs 950 crore as central share) has been made for implementation of the mission during the remaining period of the 14th Finance Commission (2018-19 and 2019-20).

India signs loan agreement with World Bank for US$ 125 million for “Innovate in India for Inclusiveness Project”

A Loan Agreement for IBRD credit of US$ 125 (equivalent) for the “Innovate in India for Inclusiveness Project” was signed with the World Bank on 24th April, 2018 in New Delhi.

The Objectives of the project is to nurture indigenous innovation, foster local product development and accelerate commercialization process by bridging critical skill and infrastructure gaps to promote affordable and innovative healthcare products generation for inclusive development and increasing competitiveness in India.

NSE launches e – Gsec platform for bringing retail participation in Govt. Securities

National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has announced the launch of its “e – Gsec” platform for facilitating the non-competitive bidding in Government of India Dated Securities (G-Sec) and Treasury Bills (T-Bills). This will allow retail investors to invest in Government Securities and hold them in existing demat accounts.

Morocco to host 2021 annual meetings of World Bank, IMF

Morocco has been designated to host the 2021 annual meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Signing of Legal Agreements between Govt. of India and World Bank on National Biopharma Mission

The National Biopharma Mission is being implemented by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC). The Mission has been approved at a total cost of US$250 million for five years with 50%  funding through World Bank Loan, with an aim to make India a hub for design and development of novel, affordable and effective biopharmaceutical products.

Former Indian athlete Tony Daniel passes away

Dr Tony Daniel, the joint secretary of All-India Athletic Federation and chairman of its technical committee, passed away. Dr Daniel, was a former athlete.
