Agency banks, RBI offices to remain open till April 1

To facilitate government receipt and payment functions, all agency banks have been advised to keep their bank branches dealing with government business to remain open on all days between March 25 and April 1 (including Saturday, Sunday and all holidays).


Tata Capital launches ‘myLoan’ app for personal loans

In a bid to woo the mobile-savvy youth, financial services company Tata Capital has launched a mobile app to offer personal loans up to Rs 15 lakh.

  • The app, called myLoan, is a social profile-based personal loan mobile application.

President of India inaugurates ‘World Conference on Environment’

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the ‘World Conference on Environment’ organized by the National Green Tribunal in New Delhi on March 25, 2017.

  • Stressing on the need for efforts to check environmental degradation in the country, President Pranab Mukherjee welcomed the fact that conservation has now become inclusive and participatory due to sensitization of people in general and firm political will on part of governments all across.

Aadhaar made mandatory for mobile connections

After making Aadhaar mandatory for filing income tax returns and applying for PAN, the government has now moved to make Aadhaar mandatory for mobile phone connections.

  • According to a department of telecom (DoT) notification, the telecom operators have been directed to re-verify their existing subscribers — both prepaid and postpaid — through an Aadhaar-based eKYC process by February 6, 2018.
  • This order follows the Supreme Court order of February 6, 2017 that Aadhaar-based eKYC verification should be done for all mobile phone numbers in the country.

SAIL, BSNL, Air India worst performing PSUs in FY16: Survey

Coal India, ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation emerged as star financial performers among India’s central public sector enterprises in 2015-16, whereas SAIL, BSNL and Air India incurred most losses, a government survey has showed.


CBEC to be renamed CBIC under GST regime

Pawan Hans to Start Dilli Darshan Chopper Rides at Rs 2,500

National chopper operator Pawan Hans is set to launch its “Delhi Darshan” rides from next month with a 10-minute sortie costing Rs 2,499 per person.

  • Besides, the state-owned aviation firm will also offer a 20-minute helicopter ride for Rs 4,999.
  • The roll out of these services will be from April 1.

Flipkart to acquire eBay’s India operations

Flipkart is acquiring eBay India in a deal that is part of a $2 billion fundraising. This comes after recent reports claimed that Flipkart has closed its $1 billion funding from Microsoft, Tencent and eBay, and plans to raise $1 billion more.
