Bank of Baroda enters into MOU with Jain Irrigation Systems

Bank of Baroda, India’s leading public sector bank has entered into MOU with Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, with an objective to finance the Micro Irrigation systems i.e. drip and sprinkler irrigation sold by the company through the network of Bank of Baroda branches across the country.

  • Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd (JISL) is an Indian multinational company established in 1986 with manufacturing plants in 30 locations across the globe.

Vijaya Bank inks MoU with Piaggio Vehicles

 Vijaya Bank has entered into an MoU with Piaggio Vehicles for providing financial support for the purchase of vehicles under Small Road Transport Operators (SRTO) scheme in Bengaluru.

GIC may be first PSU general insurer to launch IPO

General Insurance Corporation (GIC Re) is likely to be the first PSU insurer to tap the capital market as the Finance Ministry has started scouting for merchant bankers to manage its IPO.

  • The government holds 100 per cent stake in GIC Re, which provides reinsurance support to 54 general and life insurance companies, both public and private, in the Indian market.

HDFC Bank’s Aditya Puri features in world’s 30 best CEOs list by Barron’s

HDFC Bank managing director Aditya Puri’s name has featured in the list of world’s 30 best CEOs, published by American financial magazine Barron’s.

  • According to Barron, he has transformed HDFC Bank from a start-up into one of the world’s highest-quality banks, generating eye-popping returns by maintaining lending standards while expanding beyond corporate loans into a full-service retail bank.

Govt launches Online Film Certification System

The Union government has launched ‘e-CinePramaan’, the Online Film Certification System of the Central Board of Film Certification. This will make the process for films to obtain a certificate fully digital and will include QR Codes to check fraudulent certificates.

Aadhaar not mandatory for social schemes: SC

The Supreme Court has made it clear that the unique identification number – Aadhaar – can’t be made mandatory for availing benefits under social welfare schemes.

  • A bench of Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, however, said Aadhaar could be required for other schemes.

  • The three kilometre road with 16 lanes will be built on the Sohna Road in Gurgaon.

Pawan Hans ties-up with HAL to train helicopter pilots

State-run Pawan Hans has joined hands with public sector chopper maker Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to train helicopter pilots.

  • This is a first in the country as there is no training facility for chopper pilots.
  • Pawan Hans is a joint venture where state-owned ONGC holds 49 per cent.
