UAE Foreign minister arrives in India

United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in India. He will hold talks with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar to boost cooperation in key sectors such as trade and energy.

Pink City Jaipur declared World Heritage site by UNESCO

The Walled City of Jaipur, known for its iconic architectural legacy and vibrant culture, has made its entry into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.

  • The announcement was made after the 43rd Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, underway at Baku (Azerbaijan) from June 30 to July 10, examined the nomination of the Walled City of Jaipur for inclusion in the World Heritage list.

Meghalaya fined Rs 100 cr for illegal coal mining

The Supreme Court of India has directed the Meghalaya government to deposit the Rs 100 crore fine. The fine was imposed by the NGT for failing to curb illegal coal mining with the Central Pollution Control Board.

Bonalu festival kicks off in Telangana

The annual Bonalu festival kicked off at the Jagadamba temple in historic Golconda Fort, Telangana. Bonalu is celebrated every year in the state during the first month of the monsoon season. Bonalu is the “state festival” of Telangana.

ISRO ties up with Russian agency to select, train Indian astronauts

Indian Space Research Organisation has signed a contract with Russia’s Glavkosmos for selection support, medical examination and space training of Indian astronauts.

  • ISRO has planned to send two unmanned missions before the mission ‘Gaganyaan-1’.

Operation ‘Sudarshan’ launched along the Pakistan border

BSF has launched the operation ‘Sudarshan’ to fortify the ‘anti-infiltration grid’ along the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu.

  • It was launched on July 1 and will cover the entire 1,000-kms length of the India-Pakistan International Border.

Rohit Sharma records maximum hundreds in the single World Cup

Rohit Sharma has set a world record of maximum hundreds in the single World Cup. He has become the first batsman in the world to score five hundreds in a single World Cup and break the record of Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakarra.

  • He has also equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of the total number of World Cup hundreds.

Canada Open Badminton: Li Shi Feng won the men’s singles title

Li Shi Feng has won the men’s singles title of Canada Open Badminton. He defeated India’s Parupalli Kashyap in the title clash.

Copa America: Brazil beat Peru 3-1 to lift the title

Brazil clinch their ninth Copa America football trophy after a gap of 12 years. Brazil have defeated Peru 3-1 to win their first Copa America title since 2007.

FIFA Women’s World Cup: United States defeat Netherlands, lift title

United States trounced the Netherlands by 2-0 in the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup to lift the title at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in France.

  • This is the fourth time when the United States clinched the World Cup. Before the 2019 triumph, United States won the title in 1991, 1999 and 2015.

‘Team man’ Duminy announces retirement for ALL Proteas cricket

South African Jean-Paul Duminy, usually known as JP Duminy announced his retirement from all international cricket following 10-run win over Australia in South Africa’s final match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Imran Tahir announces retirement from ODI Cricket

South African Imran Tahir announced his retirement from ODI cricket following 10-run win over Australia in South Africa’s final match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Ian Gould retires from umpiring

On 6 July 2019, Ian Gould (from UK) announced retirement from umpiring, after standing in the World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka.

  • The 61-year old Englishman, who made his International Umpiring debut in 2006, has officiated in 250 International matches across all formats of Cricket. The last match wass his 251st assignment.
