Coir Kranthi Express reaches Bengaluru

Coir Kranthi Express, an exhibition to highlight the modern face of coir, reached Bengaluru.


  • Coir Kranthi Express was initiated by the Indian Coir Board, a part of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It was flagged off on July 18 from Coimbatore and has so far covered over 25,000 km across the country in a span of 120 days.

Govt raises MSS cap to Rs 6 lakh crore to manage liquidity

Government in consultation with the RBI today sharply raised the Market Stabilisation Scheme (MSS) ceiling to Rs 6 lakh crore from Rs 30,000 crore to mop up extra liquidity from the system in view of demonetisation.

RBI sets 20 per cent cap on large exposure to a company

The Reserve Bank of India has come out with final guidelines for banks’ exposure to large companies stipulating that a lender’s total advances to a single company cannot be higher than 20 per cent of its capital base and 25 per cent in the case of a group of connected parties or companies. The new norms will be implemented by March 31, 2019.

HRD launches campaign to promote digital transactions

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar launched a campaign called VISAKA -Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan – to use the network of Centrally-run educational institutions for propagating the benefits of digital mode of payment in wake of the government’s demonetisation move.

  • As part of the VISAKA campaign, Javadekar urged the institutions to go cashless first, before educating others about it. All educational instructions have been asked to neither receive fee and deposits in cash nor pay wages, salaries in cash.
