Niti Aayog launches ‘Performance on Health Outcomes’ index

Government think tank Niti Aayog launched a performance index on health services to nudge states to improve health outcomes and improve data collection systems.

  • The index is launched along with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Government of India to launch Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana

The Government of India seeks to promote digital payment methods to encourage consumers and merchants to increasingly shift to these payment modes.

  • To take this imitative forward, Lucky Grahak Yojana for Consumers and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana for Merchants, will be launched on 25th December 2016 at Vigyan Bhavan.
  • The schemes are aimed at encouraging people to move towards significantly higher usage of digital transactions through the offer of incentives.

Bunkar Mitra–Handloom Helpline Centre to be set up by Ministry of Textiles

The Ministry of Textiles has decided to establish a Bunkar Mitra-Handloom Helpline Centre where professional queries of weavers will be answered by the experts in the field. This helpline will function from 10.00 a.m to 6 p.m. and initially it will be provided in 7 languages viz., Hindi, English, and 5 other regional languages (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada Bengali & Assamese).

ICICI Bank unveils one merchant mobile app for all payment modes

ICICI Bank has launched a mobile application eazypay for merchants that allows consolidation of all modes of payments, including digital wallets, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), QR code, and credit & debit cards.

  • The app is designed for business, will allow multiple users to connect to the same account. This makes it possible to be used for cash-on-delivery payments.

Government waives transaction fee on IMPS, NEFT transfer of over Rs 1,000

In order to encourage digital transactions, the Finance Ministry today asked PSU banks to restrict fees on payments through IMPS and UPI to the extent that is applicable for NEFT fund transfer of over Rs 1,000.

  • As per RBI norms, NEFT transfers of up to Rs 10,000 attract Rs 2.5 fee. From Rs 10,000-1 lakh the fee is Rs 5; on Rs 1-2 lakh it is Rs 15, and beyond Rs 2 lakh it is Rs 25. Service tax is charged in addition to this.
  • Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) fee is Rs 1.50, which has been waived till December 30, 2016.
