Eight Executive Directors appointed in various banks

Eight Executive Directors (EDs) have been appointed in various public sector banks on the recommendations of Banks Board Bureau.

  • Neelam Damodharan and Atanu Kumar Das will be ED of Bank of India.
  • K Swaminathan has been appointed as ED of Indian Overseas Bank.
  • Ashok Kumar Pradhan will be ED of United Bank of India.
  • P Ramana Murthy will be ED of Central Bank of India.
  • Fareed Ahmed Khan will be ED of Punjab and Sind Bank.
  • M K Bhattacharya will be ED of Indian Bank
  • S Harishankar will be ED of Allahabad Bank
  • Sunil Mehta appointed non-executive Chairman of PNB

India ranks fourth globally for Web Application Attacks

India ranked fourth on the list of top target countries for Web Application Attacks and 10th in the list of “Global Web Application Attack Source Countries” in the fourth quarter of 2016, a new report revealed.

Bangladeshi painter to be 1st foreign ‘Artist In-Residence’ in Rashtrapati Bhavan

Well-known painter and freedom fighter Shahabuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh will be the first foreign artist to live in Rashtrapati Bhavan as a guest of President Pranab Mukherjee.

  • Shahabuddin is a celebrated international artist whose Works are exhibited around the world.
  • The ‘In-Residence’ programme was launched by President Mukherjee on December 11, 2013 with the aim of providing Writers and artists an opportunity to stay at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

‘Science Express’ train flags off to create climate change awareness in India

A ‘Science Express’ train was flagged off from New Delhi on a seven-month journey that will cover 68 stations across the country to spread awareness about climate change.

  • Named ‘Science Express Climate Action Special’, is a collaborative efforts of ministries of Railways, Environment and Science and Technology with16-coaches.
  • The focus is on what can be done at school, on roads, at home and in offices and also on the concept of lifestyle choices.

AirAsia inks pact with Odisha to run direct flights to Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia-based low-cost carrier AirAsia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government for running direct international flights from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur.

Karnataka govt to set up aerospace training centre with Dassault, VTU

The Karnataka government plans to set up Centre of Excellence in Aerospace and Defence in collaboration with Dassault Systemes and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

  • The new centre will provide high-end training and skill development to about 1,600 engineers a year.

Norman promoted as FIBA Technical Delegate

Norman Isaac has become the first Indian ever to be promoted by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as Technical Delegate (TD).

  • As a TD, he will be assigned to any country except his own and will be responsible for conduct of an entire event, ranging from actual competition management to every related aspect from media arrangements to logistics.
