RBI to frame standard procedure for FDI approvals post FIPB

The Reserve Bank is expected to formulate standard operating procedure (SOP) for approval of FDI proposals by ministries following the government decision to phase out FIPB.

Govt to issue Sovereign Gold Bonds 2016-17

Government will accept applications to issue Sovereign Gold Bonds 2016-17-Series IV. The application for the bonds will be accepted till 3rd of next month.

  • The bonds will be issued on 17th of next month. These will be sold through banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited, designated post offices and recognized stock exchanges.

‘Mumbai richest Indian city with total wealth of $820 bn’

According to New World Wealth, India’s financial capital Mumbai, which is home to 46,000 millionaires and 28 billionaires, is the richest Indian city with a total wealth of $ 820 billion .

Second “Hunar Haat” concluded on Feb 26

“Hunar Haat”, being organised by Ministry of Minority Affairs proved to be an effective campaign to promote master artisans from across the country and provide market-opportunity to them.

  • “Hunar Haat” was organised in New Delhi from 11 to 26th February.
  • The first “Hunar Haat” had been organized from 14 to 27th November at India International Trade Fair in November 2016.
  • Next “Hunar Haat” will be organized at Mumbai.

Indian Navy Concludes Theatre Level Exercise Tropex 2017

The Indian Navy’s Annual Theatre Level Readiness and Operational Exercise (TROPEX 17) was conducted on the Western Seaboard from 24 Jan 17 till 23 Feb 17.

  • The exercise saw participation of its strategic assets including nuclear-powered submarine and aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, besides Su-30 and Jaguar fighter jets of IAF.

Saina Nehwal to represent Olympic Committee in BWF

Adding another feather in her cap, star shuttler Saina Nehwal, who was appointed a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission (AC) last year, would be representing the panel in the Badminton World Federation (BWF)

Gopi, Athare win men’s and women’s races in Delhi Marathon

Rio Olympian Thanackal Gopi won the men’s title in the second edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon. Monika Athare claimed the honours in the women’s section.

  • In the half marathon, G Lakshamanan won the title.  Manju Yadav won the women’s half marathon.

World’s first robot table tennis tutor sets Guinness record

The world’s first robot table tennis tutor in Japan has set a new Guinness World Record for its uncanny ability of being able to play the game better than most humans.

  • FORPHEUS (Future Omron Robotics Technology for Exploring Possibility of Harmonised Automation with Sinic Theoretics) has officially been given the Guinness title for its unique technological intelligence and educational capabilities.
