Lakshmi Vilas Bank ties with Centrum for its wealthy clients

South-based Lakshmi Vilas Bank has now roped in Centrum group, a leading financial services company, which will now mange the bank’s wealthy clients.

  • The bank’s interested HNI (high networth individuals) clients will be referred to Centrum Wealth for professional wealth management and family office services.

SIDBI expert panel sanctions Rs 1,112 cr to funds for startups

An expert committee set up by SIDBI has sanctioned Rs 300 crore to fund managers who would invest in startups, taking the total sanctions so far this fiscal to over Rs 1,100 crore, the government said today.

  • During fiscal year 2014-15 and 2015-16 sanctions were made to 11 funds (Rs 314 crores) and 16 funds (Rs 607 crores) respectively while the number during the current financial year has already crossed Rs 1,112 crores to 30 funds.

States’ fiscal deficit will rise to 3.3% in 2017-18: India Ratings

A report by ratings firm India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) estimates that aggregate fiscal deficit of Indian states will increase marginally to 3.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) in FY’18 from its forecast of 3.2% for FY;17.

  • It expects states’ debt/GDP ratio may increase marginally to 24.3% in FY’18 from 24% forecasted for FY’17.

FDI inflow zooms 18% to USD 46 billion in 2016: DIPP

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in India grew 18 per cent during 2016 to touch $46 billion, data released by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) showed.

  • The country attracted FDI of $39.32 billion in 2015.

India & Ukraine to strengthen bilateral cooperation through Cinema

India and Ukraine have agreed to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries through the medium of Cinema.

  • The cooperation would be worked out through a policy and institutional framework to showcase films through the medium of Film Festivals and utilizing the Film Facilitation Office platform established by India.

Rajasthan inaugurates medical project RAHAT

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated a medical project Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment programme (RAHAT), launched by a private hospital in Jaipur.

  • The programme is a ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), a very serious type of heart attack, management telemedicines platform that captures and transmits patient’s EKG along with clinical history from remote geographical locations to heart command center hub.

Haryana sets up sex ratio monitoring system for Panipat

The Haryana government has set up an online system for Panipat to monitor the sex-ratio in the district as part of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ programme.

  • The system, called the sex ratio monitoring dashboard, will have the data of child sex-ratio collected from all villages by the Health and Women and Child Welfare Departments every month.
  • The dashboard had been developed in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC) as a pilot project.

Chhattisgarh govt takes governance to people’s doorstep

Chhattisgarh government started a campaign that would run in three phases to take governance to the doorstep of people.

  • In the first phase of the campaign named Lok Suraj Abhiyan, camps would be organised in 11,000 gram panchayats and 168 civic body wards across the state.
  • In the second phase from March 1 to April 2, necessary action would be taken on complaints received from the people.
  • The third phase of the campaign would start from April 2 and continue till April 20. In this phase, the Chief Minister, ministers and senior officials would conduct surprise inspection in the villages and camps.

  • The beach on the Havelock Island in the Andamans has secured 8th position in the world and top spot in Asia in TripAdvisor’s ‘World’s Travellers’ Choice Award-Winning Beaches’.

Paytm launches new e-commerce platform ‘Paytm Mall’

After seeing an unmatchable success with its mobile wallet, Paytm is now expanding its reach in the e-commerce segment.

  • The company has now launched a dedicated app and website, Paytm Mall, for the online marketplace business. Paytm Mall will focus on structured categories and brand authorised stores.

Tata Communications partners with HPE for roll-out of LoRa network

Tata Communications is partnering with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to support the roll-out of the former’s Internet of Things platform, the LoRa network.

  • LoRa is essentially a wireless communication technology dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT) / Machine to Machine (M2M) communications network. LoRa technology provides for a network that is a low-power, secure, bi-directional which organisations can use to connect objects
