Road Ministry app soon to check traffic violations

In a move to lower traffic violations, the Road Ministry along with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has readied an app, e-challan, which will help traffic rule enforcers, such as the transport department and traffic police.

  • The app has already gone live in Uttar Pradesh, and a pilot run is on with the transport and traffic departments in Karnataka, Odisha and Delhi.
  • The ministry will also launch app, m-Parivahan which is a citizen centric app that will facilitate access to various transport related services.

India and Kazakhstan signed Protocol to amend the Double Taxation Avoidance Convention (DTAC)

India and Kazakhstan signed on 6 January 2017 signed a Protocol to amend the existing Double Taxation Avoidance Convention (DTAC) between the two countries. It was earlier signed on 9th December, 1996 for the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

MP Police launched women safety app

Amid a rising national debate over women safety triggered by the Bengaluru molestation incident, Madhya Pradesh police have launched ‘MP e-Cop’, a mobile app and portal to facilitate girls to get immediate back-up merely with a push of a button.

  • There is SOS (an international code signal of extreme distress) facility in ‘MP e-Cop’, which would trigger the SMS to phone numbers fed in the app used by girls and women.

Gandhinagar becomes India’s first model Smart City

It may not have made it in the first two rounds of shortlist by the ministry of urban development (MoUD) but Gandhinagar has now become the first city in the country to go smart.

Per capita income of Indians to cross Rs 1 lakh in FY17

As per the ‘First Advance Estimates of National Income, 2016-17’ released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the per capita net national income during 2016-17 is “estimated to be Rs 103,007” at current prices, up from Rs 93,293 in the previous fiscal.
