PNB, India Post Bank team up

Punjab National Bank and India Post Payments Bank have signed a memorandum of understanding, whereby PNB will provide technology platform for pilot launch of IPPB on receipt of regulatory nod from the Reserve Bank of India.


Cabinet approves India’s Membership in the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), South Korea

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval to the proposal for India’s taking full membership of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Governing Council. The move involves payment of annual contribution of US $ 5,00,000 to the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), Seoul, South Korea.


Govt clears package for micro and small enterprises

Government approved a package for supporting the micro and small enterprises across the country, which entails augmenting the corpus of Credit Guarantee Trust Fund for such ventures and doubling the coverage of loans under the credit guarantee scheme.

  • Under the package, the corpus of the Credit Guarantee Trust Fund has been enhanced from Rs 2,500 crore at present to Rs 7,500 crore, which will be fully funded by the government. Moreover, coverage of the loans under the credit guarantee scheme has been increased from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.

Govt approves Rs 45,000 crore loan to FCI

The government approved Rs 45,000 crore loan to FCI out of National Small Savings Fund, while exempting most of the states and UTs from mandatory investment norms with regard to funds collected under the NSSF scheme.


MoU signed between NITI Aayog and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES)

This will provide a framework for cooperation between NITI Aayog and UPES to collaborate for designing, developing, and conducting consultative policy dialogue and business research to promote and enable high level energy efficiency policy formulation in India.

To foster competition among states, Niti Aayog has sought data on digital transactions from them within 10 days so that they can be ranked on the basis of initiatives taken to promote less-cash economy.

The Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar launched a dedicated web portal ‘ShaGun’ for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan at New Delhi. ‘ShaGun’ aims to capture and showcase innovations and progress in Elementary Education sector of India by continuous monitoring of the flagship scheme – Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

  • The Union HRD Minister also unveiled the ‘Toolkit for Master Trainers in Preparing Teachers for Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs’, which has been prepared by World Bank in collaboration with Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Gujarat announces 124% wage hike for fixed-pay employees from Feb 1

The Gujarat government announced hike in salaries of its fixed-pay employees in the range of 63-124% under the Seventh Pay Commission. Effective February 1, the move will benefit over 118,000 employees of various cadre and cost the state exchequer Rs 1,300 crore annually.
