Kwality partners Bank of Baroda for Rs 4000 crore loan to farmers

Dairy firm Kwality Ltd has signed an agreement with Bank of Baroda for providing Rs 4,000 crore loans to the former’s one lakh farmers from whom the company procures milk.

  • The scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance to improve socio-economic lives of farmers and steer them towards digitisation.

KVG Bank plans to turn 250 villages fully digital

The Dharwad-headquartered Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank (KVGB), a regional rural bank (RRB) sponsored by Syndicate Bank, will make 250 villages in nine districts under its jurisdiction hundred per cent digital villages for banking activities by March-end.


CCI nod to MakeMyTrip, Ibibo Group merger

The Competition Commission of India has approved the proposed merger of online travel firm MakeMyTrip’s Indian travel business with rival Ibibo Group, owned by South African media conglomerate Naspers.

Bihar sets record of forming longest human chain of 3 cr people to make State free from alcohol

Bihar claimed to have formed the world’s largest human chain with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, political leaders, cutting across party lines, and citizens held each other’s hand to reaffirm commitment towards liquor ban.

  • The human chain is estimated to cover a distance of 11,292 km involving two crore citizens.
  • The Bihar human chain is tipped to be the world’s largest so far. The previous record is of 1050 km long human chain which was formed in Bangladesh in 2004.

Kerala Gramin Bank to propagate financial literacy among school children

Aimed at propagating financial literacy among school children, Kerala Gramin Bank has conceived a novel programme called [email protected].

  • Under the project, every branch of the bank has to identify and enter into a virtual tie up with a school in its locality preferably an upper primary school to organise various programmes such as formation of financial literacy clubs, account opening camps at schools, junior debit card distribution, financial literacy related classes, distribution of financial literacy booklets, competition on financial literacy etc.

Ex-BCCI president Anurag Thakur to head Himachal Olympic Association

Thakur, who had to step down as BCCI President owing to the Supreme Court ruling on Lodha Committee reforms is unanimously elected as the head of the Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association (HPOA) for a four-year term.


Hong Kong withdraws visa-free facility for Indians

Hong Kong has withdrawn the visa-free facility for Indians who will have to complete a pre-arrival registration from January 23.
