World Bank approves funding for India’s ambitious National Hydrology Project

The World Bank has approved $175 million for India’s National Hydrology Project which will strengthen the capacity of existing institutions to assess the water situation and equip them with real-time flood forecast systems across the country.

Approval given to RBI to print Rs 10 plastic notes

RBI has been authorised to conduct field trials of plastic notes of Rs 10 that have a longer life span.

  • Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Shimla and Bhubaneswar are the five cities where the plastic notes would be introduced in a field trial.
  • Such notes were first introduced in Australia to safeguard against counterfeiting.

UBI to get Rs 418-crore capital from government

State-run United Bank of India has announced that the central government will infuse Rs 418 crore capital in the bank as a part of turnaround-linked capital infusion plan.

ESAF Small Finance Bank kicks off operations

India, Russia sign two agreements for Sukhois’ maintenance

India and Russia have signed two agreements for long-term support to the Su-30 MKI fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF), which is expected to improve the maintenance and serviceability of the aircraft.

  • One of the agreements, signed between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) that produces Su-30 MKI under licence, and PJSC United Aircraft Corporation of Russia, is for the supply of spares and technical assistance for five years.
  • The second agreement was signed by HAL with JSC United Engine Corporation for the supply of spares for engines of Russian origin.

Australia research centre enters into agreement with Indian Railways

A Railway research centre in Australia has entered into an agreement with the Indian Railways to support future research and technology development related to critical infrastructure in India.

  • IRT with partners – Balaji Railroad Systems Ltd (BARSYL), leading railway consultants in India, PwC, and Indian Institute of Bombay (IITB) were selected as the preferred supplier from a competitive global selection process.

Trivendra Rawat named next CM of Uttarakhand
