Direction (1-5): Read the information below and answer the questions that follow.

Five people A, B, C, D and E took part in a competition which comprises of completing a painting while they are in a running position. The table below shows the time taken by them to complete a painting when they are in static position and their maximum speed. When in running position the time taken by them to complete a painting increased by (60*n) minutes where n is the speed at which they are running at that moment.
Note: Take n in m/s. When we say time is increased by (60*n) minutes, it means that time increased is directly proportional to n.
A person has to start drawing the painting as soon as he starts running.

1. A runs at half his maximum speed for the full duration of the race. He completes the race 60 minutes after the time when he completed his painting. Find the distance that he covered when he completed the race.
   A) 7500 m
   B) 5600 m
   C) 8100 m
   D) 7800 m

   Solution:
   Total time taken to complete the painting by A= 180+ (0.5*60)= 210 minutes
   Time taken to complete the race is 60 minutes more than this=210+60=270 minutes
   We have time in minutes and speed= 0.5 m/s so convert it in metre/minute = 0.5*60 /60 sec= 30 m/min
   Distance= speed*time= 30*270= 8100 m
   
2. B started running at (2/3)rd of his maximum speed and continued at the same speed till the end of the race and hence completes the race in 180 minutes. As a result some part of his painting remains incomplete. Find the time required to complete this remaining portion of the painting in static position after he has completed the race.

   B) 100/7 minutes

   Time that B will take to complete the painting in running position= 150 + (n*60) minutes
   n=2/3*1.5= 1 m/s

   in static position B can complete 1 paining in 150 min; so 1/7 paining in 150/7 minutes

First A will cover the half distance while completing the painting and then hand over the painting to D and then D will cover the remaining half while completing the painting.    Time required by A=6000/60= 100 min
   time required to complete the painting= 180 + (1*60)=240
   part completed=10/240=5/12; part remaining= 7/12
   To complete this 7/12 part in static position D will take 7/12*240 min=140 min
   so when running at 0.8 m/s he will take = 140 + (0.8*60)= 188 min
   Total time to complete the race= 6000/48=125 min
   So part of painting remaining = 1 – 125/188= 63/188
   
5. Running at a speed of 1.5 m/s, B finishes his race exactly when he finishes the painting while running. Find the distance that he ran.
