A mixture of 30 litres contains milk and water in the ratio 7 : 3. 10 litres of the mixture is taken out and replaced with pure milk and the same operation is repeated one more time. Find the final ratio of milk to water in the mixture.?????
ans 9:1
milk……….water
21………….9……..=30
-7…………..-3……..=10
14…………6……..=20
+10…………0…….=30
total 24…….6….=30
again less -7……-3=10
total=17………..3=20
add pure milk+10……….0=10
final.. 27……………..3
9:1
In the second operation you cannot subtract 7 from milk and 3 from water because the ratio of milk and water has changed.
24:6= 4:1
Therefore you will subtract (4/5)*10 quantity from milk and (1/5)*10 from water which will give milk 16 litres and water 4 litres. Add 10 lt to milk now which will give total 26 lt. So the final ratio will be 26:4= 13:2
Yes. Got it thank u mam:)
Also, we have a direct formula for these type of questions.
Thanku mod for correction
Final ratio = 13:2
MILK:WATER=7:3=10 UNIT
TOTAL:WATER
10:::::::::3
3::::::::::::2 (10/30=1/3)
3::::::::::::2
————–
90::::::::12
MILK:-=90-12=78
MILK:WATER=78:12=13:2
13:2 ans

Time taken by A alone to finish a piece of work is 60% more than that taken by A and B together to finish the same piece of work.C is twice as efficent as B.If B and C together can complete the same piece of work in 13 1/3 days,in how many days can A alone finish the same piece of work??(SBI PO PRE 30.04.2017)
Let C completes work in x days, then B will complete same work in 2x days. So,
1/x + 1/2x = 3/40
x = 20 so B does the work in 40 days.
Let A+B complete work in y days. So A will take 16y/10 days to complete the same work. So,
10/16y + 1/40 = 1/y
y = 15
So A alone finish the same piece of work in 16*15/10 = 24 days
TY MAM
Oh I didn’t see the solution you attached with it!

The following bar graph shows the time taken to drain out completely-filled tanks at 1m3/min. Read the given data carefully and answer the questions that follow-
1)Tank A after reducing its capacity by 30%, is filled by pipes X & Y together in such a way that when the tank is half filled, the rate of flow of water in pipe Y is quadrupled. The ratio of time taken to fill the 2nd half of the reduced capacity tank to the time taken to completely fill the reduced capacity tank is 1 : 4. If the product of
flow rates of pipes X & Y in normal condition is 32, then in how much time will the tank fill completely?
28 minutes
24 minutes
14 minutes
12 minutes
None of these
