- Is the death penalty appropriate? Or should it be banned?
a. I think nobody deserves to die . Even if they commited a murder , they shouldn’t deserve to die . I think they should be punished in a non-dealthy way. Maybe stay in jail longer ? But sometimes people go to jail when they aren’t guilty , and they could die for no reason . Killing people is really sad . They go when GOD wants them , too . They shouldn’t know the date and time they’re going to be killed , no matter what or how bad their crime was.
b. I understand killing people isn’t right at all , but that still don’t mean the killer should . Let God deal with that . What would it accomplish to put someone on death row ? The victim is already dead-you cannot bring him back . When the opponents feel “fear of death” will prevent one from committing murder , it is not true because most murders are done on the “heat of passion” when a person cannot think rationally . If the criminal was someone that was colse to me , of course I’d want them to be punished for what they did , but I wouldn’t want them gone forever . Death penalty doesn’t solve anything , it just get’s rid of them .Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption C
statement “a” concludes ” nobody deserves to die” and statement “b” concludes “Death penalty doesn’t solve anything ” hence both follows.
- Should laptops be allowed in classrooms?
a. Students prefer using laptops to take notes over paper and pencil methods because it is neater to type, and takes up less room. Many schools already require typed papers in English, history, and foreign language classes, and having your own computer makes it much easier than having to use a flash drive to transfer documents between school computers and your own device.
b. Our school has laptops, so I’m saying this with actual experience. I can see how a lot of the “for” side would think it would save paper, but it does not, especially when we need to print assignments. The printer often gets jammed when the students are all trying to print at once, and later in the day, dozens and dozens of papers fly out of the printer, and not one of them is used. This happens often, and usually what people do is reprint it from another printer that is further away. (and they usually forget to print back to back!)Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption C
- Are video games containing violence appropriate for children?
a. The technologies are part of us, they have changed our behaviour and the way that the younger and children play and their environment. We have to accept this change and enjoy with their advantages, but we have to be careful because behind a game can exist a danger. There are games recommended to the different ages. The sellers always note this characteristic in each game and we have in mind. But, Do we give the same important to the violence note?, Are there age for the violence? This element has been studied trying to discover if there is relation between this kind of videos and the violence people.
b. Most of them are but online games can be a tricky place for kids. Children are careless with their personal info and they don’t really care much about safety. If they are making purchases in their games that’s even worse. You could be losing your credit card info in no time.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption D
None of the statements are related to the theme.
- Should jobs be subcontracted into developing countries?
a. Subcontracting of jobs is unequivocally beneficial for people of both the subcontracing and the subcontracted country. Workers in developing and underdeveloped countries are paid far less than workers in developing countries due to the lower cost of living. Often these workers are not unionized as well, which further helps with cost cutting.
b. Most of the under developed countries tend to be engaged in some sort of internal or external conflict, the reason of most of them is often economic problems. Creation of jobs means better economic condition of the people of the country and hence, a great reduction in the inner conflicts of the country due to development. And stability in a country leads eventually leads to stability in the region and in the long run, stability in the whole of modern world.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption A
Statement “b” talks nothing about the theme whereas on the otherhand, statement “a” says “developing” countries are far more beneficial than “underdeveloping” coutries.
- Do school uniforms make school a more effective place to learn?
a. It makes the school spend way to much money than necessary to make kids wear clothes that will have no effect on their learning or there state of opinion on clothing. It will not make kids more modest about there clothes because out of school most kids will wear regular clothes.
b. Uniforms are completely unrelated to effectiveness, results and discipline. They are really about marketing and branding, particularly for private schools.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption C
- Should older women be allowed to marry younger men?
a. Biologically speaking, it makes perfect sense for an older woman to take a younger man since men are scientifically proven to have a shorter lifespan than women. So why would a woman go for a man who is way older to her and ready to drop down instead of choosing a man who would have a longer life? Also in terms of reproduction, an older woman going for a younger man is understandable since he would be more fertile.
b. My parents are 6 years apart as well. My mother is the older one and they’ve been married for 26 years. I am also currently dating someone a few years younger than me and have date both older and younger than me before. Age really doesn’t have anything to do with Cupid’s arrow. You’re both adults and if she’s into you she will not care that you are younger than her. She will also more likely understand you since she at one point was in your shoes and know what it is like.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption C
- Is sexual orientation determined at birth?
a. Epidemiological studies show a rather modest association between genetic factors and sexual attractions or behaviors, but do not provide significant evidence pointing to particular genes. There is also evidence for other hypothesized biological causes of homosexual behaviors, attractions, or identity — such as the influence of hormones on prenatal development — but that evidence, too, is limited. Studies of the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals have found some differences, but have not demonstrated that these differences are inborn rather than the result of environmental factors that influenced both psychological and neurobiological traits.
b. “Did you choose your sex when you were born? Sexuality and gender identity are not choices any more than being left-handed or having brown eyes or being heterosexual are choices. They are a part of who you are. The choice is in deciding how to live your life.”Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption C

a. According to the Department of Labor, as of 2008, 17 million college graduates were in positions that did not require a college education. 1 in 3 college graduates had a job that required a high school diploma or less in 2012. More than 16,000 parking lot attendants, 83,000 bartenders, 115,000 janitors and 15% of taxi drivers have bachelor’s degrees. College graduates with jobs that do not require college degrees earn 30-40% less per week than those who work in jobs requiring college degrees.
b. Community college is great if it helps you get a bachelor’s degree, but only one in five students attending these institutions goes on to earn the degree within six years according to federal data. In addition, only 21% of first-time, full-time students earn an associate’s degree within three years, and tuition is not the main obstacle to the completion of a degree for low-income students.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption A

- Is drinking milk healthy for humans?
a. It gives you more energy and more nutritious than water. You see that although all people want their children to drink milk everyday for about 2 glasses of milk if they want to have a healthy body and if they want to be full just drink a glass of milk so it will full. And I think milk is good for humans.
b. Today’s milk is a processed food. Until the end of the 19th century in Europe and the beginning of the 20th century in the US, milk was consumed unpasteurized or raw. Later on, homogenization became the industry’s standard. These processes further alter milk’s chemistry and actually increase its detrimental acidifying effects.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption C

However, we have become so dependent on knowing exactly what is going on in other people’s lives is sad. We should be focusing on our own lives and our own interactions and relationships with people.
b. Addictive by nature, social media sites are impacting negatively on our societies. This can be seen every day on the news with increasing cases of cyber-bullying, harassment, theft and sexual crimes, meaning that our community is not as ‘together’ as we like to think it is. It is a scary fact that numerous teens with Facebook accounts don’t fully understand the implications of having a public profile thus making themselves vulnerable to danger.Only aOnly bBoth a & bNeither a nor bAll are CorrectOption D
