High Level Data Interpretation Sets SBI PO 2017, IBPS PO, NIACL, NICL, RBI Grade B, Dena Bank PO PGDBF, BOI, Bank of Baroda and other competitive exams.

Directions (1 – 5): Study the following pie-charts carefully and answer the questions that follow:

  1. If USA did exports worth 105 million $, then how much worth of exports did Haryana have (in thousand $)?
    A) 787.5
    B) 7875
    C) 7.875
    D) 78750
    E) None of these
    View Answer
    Option B
    Solution:

    Let total exports globally = $ x
    So 35% of x = 105 million
    So x = 300 million $
    So of Asia = 25% of 300 = 75 million $
    Now India = 30% of 75 million $ = 22.5 million $
    So now of Haryana = 35% of 22.5 million $ = 7.875 million $ = 7875 thousand $
  2. Taking the data from above question, Punjab exports what percent, with respect to global exports?
    A) 1.87%
    B) 1.96%
    C) 1.73%
    D) 2.25%
    E) 2.46%
    View Answer
    Option D
    Solution:

    Exports by Punjab = 30% of 22.5 million $ = 6.75 million $
Global exports from above question is =300 million $
    Required % = 6.75/300 * 100 = 2.25%
  3. If Beijing from China had same % exports as Odisha from India, then then how much worth of exports did Beijing have (in million $)? (Take data from Question 1)
    A) 2.65
    B) 3.95
    C) 3.75
    D) 2.45
    E) 1.95
    View Answer
    Option C
    Solution:

Exports of Asia from above question is = 75 million $
    So of China = 25% of 75 million $ = 18.75 million $
    So of Beijing = 20% of 18.75 million $ = 3.75 million $
  4. If Japan exports worth 80 million $, then find the difference between the exports of UK and Kerala (in million $).
    A) 477
    B) 436
    C) 443
    D) 412
    E) 462
    View Answer
    Option E
    Solution:

Let exports of Asia = x million $
    So 20% of x = 80 million $,
    Solve, x= 400 million $
    So of India = 30% of 400 million $ = 120 million $
    So of Kerala = 15% of 120 million $ = 18 million $
    Exports of Asia = 400 million $
    So global exports:
    25% of y = 400 million $
    Solve, y = 1600 million $
    So UK’s exports = 30% of 1600 million $ = 480 million $
    Required difference = 480 – 18 = 462 million $
  5. If Haryana exports worth 5.25 million dollars, then find the total exports (in million dollars) of USA and other countries (marked by others in global).
    A) 90
    B) 80
    C) 83
    D) 85
    E) 88
    View Answer
    Option A
    Solution:

    Exports of Haryana = 5.25 million $
    So of India:
    35% of x = 5.25 million $
    Solve, x = 15 million $
    So of Asia:
    30% of y = 15 million $
    Solve, y = 50 million $
    So globally:
    25% of y = 50 million $
    Solve, y = 200 million $

    So now of USA + others = (35+10)% of 200 million $ = 90 million $

Directions (6 – 10): Study the following table carefully and answer the questions that follow:

The premises of a bank are to be renovated. The renovation is in terms of flooring. Certain areas are to be floored either with marble or wood. All rooms/halls and pantry are rectangular. The area to be renovated comprises of a hall for customer transaction measuring 23 m by 29 m, branch manager’s room measuring 13 m by 17 m, a pantry measuring 14 m by 13 m, a record keeping cum server room measuring 21m by 13 m and locker area measuring 29 m by 21 m.

The total area of the bank is 2000 square meters. The cost of wooden flooring is Rs 170/- per square meter and the cost of marble flooring is Rs 190/- per square meter. The locker area, record keeping cum server room and pantry are to be floored with marble. The branch manager’s room and the hall for customer transaction are to be floored with wood. No other area is to be renovated in terms of flooring.

  1. What is the ratio of the total cost of wooden flooring to the total cost of marble flooring?
    A) 1733 : 2544
    B) 1224 : 2586
    C) 1987 : 2260
    D) 1887 : 2521
    E) 1535 : 2677
    View Answer
    Option C
    Solution:

    Area of hall = 23*29 = 667 m2
    Area of Manager room = 221 m2, of pantry= 182 m2
    Area of record room = 273 m2
    Area of locker room = 609 m2
    Total area to be floored with marble = locker area + record keeping + pantry = 182 + 273 + 609 = 1064
    So cost = 190*1064
    Total area to be floored with marble = 221 + 667 = 888
    So cost = 170*888
    So required ratio = 170*888 : 190*1064 = 1887 : 2527
  2. If the four walls and ceiling of the branch manger’s room (the height of the room is 12 m) are to be painted at the cost of Rs. 190 per sq m how much will be the total cost of renovation of the branch manger’s room, including the cost of flooring?
    A) Rs 212870
    B) Rs 215580
    C) Rs 212960
    D) Rs 216360
    E) Rs 214320
    View Answer
    Option D
    Solution:

    Manager room flooring cost = 170 * 221 = Rs 37570
    So cost of painting = [ 2 (12*17 + 12*13) + 17*13] * 190
    = Rs 178790
    So required total = 178790 + 37570 = Rs 216360
  3. If the remaining area of bank is to be carpeted at the rate of Rs. 110 per m2, how much will be the increment in the total cost of renovation of bank premises?
    A) Rs 5510
    B) Rs 5460
    C) Rs 5670
    D) Rs 5280
    E) Rs 5340
    View Answer
    Option B
    Solution:

Total area including all rooms = 2000 m2
Total area to be floored = 1952 = sq m
    So remaining area = 2000 – 1952 = 48
    So increased cost = 48*100 = Rs 5280
  4. What is the percentage of the bank that is not to be renovated?
    A) 2.7%
    B) 2.8%
    C) 3.2%
    D) 3.9%
    E) 2.4%
    View Answer
    Option E
    Solution:

Area not to be renovated = 48 m2
    So required % = 48/2000 * 100 = 2.4%
  5. What is the total cost of renovation of the hall for customer transaction and the locker area?
    A) Rs 227200
    B) Rs 225700
    C) Rs 228200
    D) Rs 229100
    E) Rs 223400
    View Answer
    Option D
    Solution:

    Cost of hall + locker area = 170 * 667 + 190*609= Rs 229100

    Q7? If anybody can explain!

    1. Gusto

here there is typing mistake in place of 10 there will be 12
      as Ar of four wall = 2*(length +breadth)*height =
      2*(13+17)*12
      cost of four wall = 2*30*12*190 = 136800
      Ar of branch manager’s room = 13*17 =221
      cost of branch manager’s room =221*190 =41990
      total cost of painting = 136800 + 41990 = 178790
      Ar of manager’s room floor = 17*13 = 221
      cost = 221*170 = 37570
here 170 bcs manager’s room is floored with wood and cost of wood is 170/m^2
      so total cost of renovation = 178790 + 37570
      = 216360

  7. Thanks for your post. Another item is that being photographer entails not only issues in catching award-winning photographs but hardships in getting the best dslr camera suited to your requirements and most especially situations in maintaining the grade of your camera. This really is very genuine and visible for those photographers that are directly into capturing this nature’s interesting scenes — the mountains, the actual forests, the particular wild or even the seas. Going to these adventurous places surely requires a camera that can meet the wild’s severe landscapes.

  8. That is the fitting blog for anyone who desires to seek out out about this topic. You notice so much its almost laborious to argue with you (not that I really would need?HaHa). You definitely put a brand new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just great!
