Last Minute Tips for IBPS PO Prelim 2017 Exam

Hello Aspirants
With few hours left for the IBPS PO Prelim 2017 Exam, the most aspired exam for a student preparing for bank exams, a lot of candidates must be in anxiety and tension. So here we are with few tips that will help you in giving your best in the examination.

First and foremost tip is not to get nervous and not to lose patience. It is not a University exam that you will get the questions from your prepared set of questions. Now, Banking Recruitment exams are more of surprise, expect the unexpected.

Preliminary exams are based on three concepts i.e Speed, Accuracy and Time Management.  Always take any exam by keeping these three things in your mind and never neglect the accuracy factor. Always stay calm on the day of exam and during the exam. Don’t try to learn any new thing on the same day on which you have exam.

Remember that you are supposed to clear the cut-off in preliminary exam, as these marks are not added in final merit list.

By now you must be ready with your own strategy and you must follow that only.

You can start with English Section, it can fetch you more marks in less time. Start with Cloze Test. The best way to fill the cloze test is by elimination method — eliminate the options and get your final answer. Also go through the theme of passage being asked. Then move on to error spotting/sentence correction whichever is being asked. Try not to do guess work. All questions of particular topic are not difficult. Do attempt synonyms/antonyms in passage if asked.

Next move on to any section as per your practice. Reasoning Section will contain Puzzles while Quant Section will contain calculative Data Interpretation Sets.

In Reasoning Section do not start with puzzle; first attempt all other questions like syllogism, inequality, coding decoding, alphanumeric series, direction sense, blood relation etc. Next find out the puzzle which is easy. Yes, you have to find it. Keep your eye on running time and give move on to next section

In Quantitative Aptitude Section, first attempt Number series, Simplification, Quadratic Equations etc. Then move onto Data Interpretation. Remember that if there are 5 questions in 1 DI set, 3 or 4 will contain easy calculations and remaining will be calculative, so attempt only easy ones. Do not try to attempt all questions in any DI set. Next move onto word problems – attempt questions on ages, percentage, average, partnership, and then topics in which you are good at like profit/loss, time and work, etc.

Dos and Donts

  • Keep your mind cool; take few deep breaths before the start of the exam.
  • Don’t panic in any situation, even if you find the questions difficult, don’t panic, else you will end up spoiling even those questions which you can do easily.
  • Learn to pick questions. It is an art, which you can master by regular practice. Choose questions which to attempt and which to leave and when to leave (i.e. when you get stuck in between).
  • Exam is all about picking up the right set of Questions and leaving the time consuming, difficult question.
  • Never let your ego say that I have prepared this topic so well, how can I leave a question from this topic. Don’t leave it, but keep it for the last, if time allows then attempt tricky and lengthy questions.
  • Accuracy is above attempts. It is true that number of attempts does matter, but if there is no accuracy then even high attempts are not of any use.
  • Attempting 60 questions with accuracy is better than attempting 70 with 10 wrong due to guess work.
  • And yes, keep your eye on the running time.

All the Best. Do Well 🙂
