# Reasoning: Machine Input-Output Questions Set 21 (SBI PO Pattern)

Directions (1-5): A string of numbers is given as input. The further steps given are obtained by applying certain logic. Numbers of step II have been obtained by using at least 1 digit of each number in step I. Each step is a resultant of previous step only. Input: 1. What is the average of numbers obtained in step 2?
A) 52
B) 56
C) 45
D) 65
E) Other than options given
Option C
Solution:
For given example: For given input:::
Step I: 78……86…..86
Step II:     48……42
Step III:     2……..0.5
Step IV:         2.5
2. What is the smallest number obtained in any step of given input?
A) 1
B) 0.5
C) 2
D) 3
E) 1.5
Option B
3. Find the difference between sum of numbers obtained in 1st step and sum of numbers obtained in all other steps.
A) 175
B) 195
C) 125
D) 115
E) 155
Option E
Solution:
Required difference = (78+86+86) – (48+42+2+0.5+2.5) = 250 – 95 =  155
4. What is the difference between the largest and the second smallest numbers obtained in any steps?
A) 84
B) 70
C) 60
D) 61
E) 58
Option A
Solution:
Required difference = 86 – 2
5. What is the average of numbers obtained in steps II and III?
A) 26.135
B) 21.145
C) 23.125
D) 24.175
E) 27.155
Option C
Solution:
Required average =(48+42+2+0.5)/4 = 23.125

Directions (6-10): A string of numbers is given as input. The further steps given are obtained by applying certain logic. Numbers of step II have been obtained by using at least 1 digit of each number in step I. Each step is a resultant of previous step only. Input: 1. What is the average of numbers obtained in step II and step IV?
A) 327
B) 462
C) 535
D) 342
E) 442
Option D
Solution:
For given example: For given input:::

Step I: 79…..…99……..68
Step II:    378…….648
Step III:     80……..80
Step IV:         0
Required average = (378+648+0)/3 = 342
2. What is the ratio of numbers obtained in Step III respectively?
A) 3 : 7
B) 1 : 3
C) 4 : 1
D) 4 : 5
E) 1 : 1
Option E
Solution:
80/80 = 1/1
3. Find the difference between sum of numbers obtained in step II and sum of numbers obtained in all other steps.
A) 620
B) 770
C) 650
D) 710
E) 690
Option A
Solution:
Required difference = (378+648) – (79+99+68+80+80+0)
4. What is the difference between the largest and the smallest numbers obtained in step I?
A) 47
B) 40
C) 30
D) 31
E) 28
Option D
Solution:
Required difference = 99 – 68
5. If number in step IV of given example was 34 instead of 6, then what would be the number obtained in step IV of asked input?
A) 130
B) 160
C) 120
D) 160
E) Cannot be determined
Option B
Solution:
20-14 = 6, but instead 20+14 = 34
So for given input 80+80 = 160

please explain ques set(2) step 2 ,,mine coming different 567 and 432 instead of 378 and 648

1. Shubhra

7*9*6 = 378

Numbers of step II have been obtained by using at least 1 digit of each number in step I.

1. Sunita Bhagat

I take too much timeto solve puzzle , pls suggest any
approach to minimise time

1. Shubhra

Puzzles always remain time consuming.
But if u do with full concentration then that can reduce time.
While solving puzzles go on wriying any extra details separately on paper. Then try to inter relate them

1. Shubhra

Which step u dint get ?

1. sneha

second step too 🙁

1. Shubhra

You have to keep this in mind:::: Numbers of step II have been obtained by using at least 1 digit of each number in step I.

so 1st Q – 2nd step me
8*9 – 6 = 66
