1. Two boats A and B starts from the two different places P and Q at the same time towards each other. If boat A is going downstream and other is going upstream, after how much time will they meet each other if their speeds are 15km/hr and 20km/hr respectively and if distance between the two places i.e P and Q is 210km?

Time = Distance /Relative speed
Relative speed =(15+D) +(20-D)=35

3. Ram purchases 750 articles at a cost of 60 paise/article. He fixed the selling price such that if he sold only 600 articles ,he would made a profit of 40% on the incidental charge. However 120 articles got damaged and able to sell only 630 articles at this price. Find his actual profit % as the percentage of total incidental charge if unsold articles are useless.

Cost Price= 750 * 60/ 100 = Rs.450
Profit = 450 * 40 /100 = 180
If selling price of 600 articles is = Rs. 630
Then the selling priceof one article will be = Rs. 630/600
Selling Price of 630 articles = 630/600 * 630 = Rs. 661.5
Profit = 661.5 – 450 =Rs. 211.5
Profit % = 2115 / 4500 *100 = 47%
4. A gold ring of 20 gm has gold and silver in the ratio 196:4 ,while another ring of 10 gm has in the ratio 8:2 .If both of them are molten and mixed together. Find the ratio of gold and silver in the resultant mixture?

Amt. of gold in the first gold ring = (196/196+4)*20 = 19.6 gm
Amt. of silver in the first silver ring = (4/196+4)* 20 = 0.4 gm
Amt. of gold in the second gold ring = (8/ 8+2)* 10 = 8 gm
Amt. of silver in the second silver ring =(2/ 8+2) *10 = 2 gm
Therefore , ratio of gold : silver = (19.6+8) / (0.4 + 2) = 23/2
5. If a discount 20% on the marked price of an food item, the shopkeeper gets a profit of 40%. Find his percentage profit if he offers a discount of 40% on the same article ?

For this ,lets fix the letter E at the first position= 1! Way and fix T at the last position = 1! Way .
Now, remaining rest empty positions ie. 6 so we can arrange it in 6 different ways = 6! Ways

7. A , B and C hired a meadow jointly for the whole year. A puts 80 cows for 10 months, B puts 100 cows for 6 months and C puts 120 cows for 3 months. If A paid Rs. 400 as rent. Find the total rent for the meadow ?

Find the ratio first ,
80*10 : 100 * 6 : 120 * 3
800 : 600 : 360
20 : 15 : 9

8. A tank has two pipes. The first pipe can fill it in 45 minutes and the second pipe can empty it in 1 hour. In what time will the empty tank be filled if the pipes be opened one at a time in alternate minutes?

Solution: In 2 minutes -> +4 filled and -3 emptied = 1 litre filled
1 litre in 2 mins.
176 litres -> 176 * 2 = 352 mins.
Remaining 4 litres will be filled in 1 minute = 352 + 1= 353 minutes = 5 hrs 53 mins.
9. A bag contains 3 black and 5 red balls . A ball is drawn out of it and replaced in the bag. Two draws of two balls each are made ,the ball being replaced after the first draw.  What is the chance that the balls were black in the first draw and red in the second draw?
