# Mixed Reasoning Questions Set 4 (new Pattern)

Directions (1-5): Each question below contains two rows marked by I and II. The resultant of each row can be found by the rules given below. Answer the question followed by the rows by finding the resultant with the help of following five rules:

Step 1) If an even number is followed by an odd (prime) number, then the resultants will be additions of two numbers.

Step 2) If an odd number is followed by a perfect square, then the resultants come by subtracting smaller number from greater number.

Step 3) If an odd number is followed by another odd number, then the resultants will be additions of two numbers.

Step 4) If an even number is followed by an odd (non-prime) number, then the resultants come by subtracting smaller number from greater number.

Step 5) If an odd number is followed by an even number, then the resultants come by multiplying the numbers.

Note: For each resultant start from step 1. So for each operation priority will be given to Step 1, then step 2 and so on.

1. I.    9     5     7
II.   7    16    3
Find the HCF of the resultant of two rows.
A) 4
B) 6
C) 3
D) 7
E) 10
Option C

For row I –
From rule 3: 9 + 5 = 14
From rule 1: 14 + 7 = 21
Resultant of first row = 21
For row II –
From rule 2: 16 – 7 = 9
From rule 3: 9 + 3 = 12
Resultant of second row = 12
HCF of (21 and 12) = 3
2. I.  18    9     4
II. 15    x     2
If x is the resultant of first row, find the highest factor of the resultant of second row.
A) 7
B) 2
C) 3
D) 4
E) 5
Option A

For row I –
From rule 4: 18 – 9 = 9
From rule 5: 9 × 4 = 36
Resultant of first row = 36
So x = 36
For row II –
From rule 2: 36 – 15 = 21
From rule 5: 21 × 2 = 42
Resultant of second row = 42
Factors of 42 = 1 × 2 × 3 × 7
So 7 is the highest factor
3. I.  10     7      4
II. 22    15     5
Find the total of the resultants of the two rows.
A) 72
B) 70
C) 62
D) 80
E) 99
Option D

For row I –
From rule 1: 10 + 7 = 17
From rule 5: 17 × 4 = 68
Resultant of first row = 68
For row II –
From rule 4: 22 – 15 = 7
From rule 1: 7 + 5 = 12
Resultant of second row = 12
So Answer = 68 + 12
4. I.    3     8     15
II.  20    9      4
Find the multiplication of the resultants of both rows.
A) 54
B) 75
C) 52
D) 63
E) 73
Option D

For row I –
From rule 5: 3 × 8 = 24
From rule 4: 24 – 15 = 9
Resultant of first row = 9
For row II –
From rule 4: 20 – 9 = 11
From rule : 11 – 4 = 7
Resultant of second row = 7
So answer = 9 × 7 = 63
5. I.  21    9       5
II.  x     8      27
If x is the resultant of the first row, find the resultant of the second row.
A) 122
B) 109
C) 118
D) 90
E) 99
Option B

For row I –
From rule 2: 21 – 9 = 12
From rule 1: 12 + 5 = 17
Resultant of first row = 17
For row II –
From rule 5: 17 × 8 = 136
From rule 1: 136 – 27 = 109
Resultant of second row = 109
6. In a row, Asha is sitting at 6th position from the left end of row and Binita is sitting at 11th position from the right end of row. If there are 5 students sitting between Asha and Binita, find how many students are sitting in the row.
A) 20
B) 22
C) 21
D) 24
E) 23
Option B

There will be 6 + 5 + 11 = 22 students
7. Ruchika is sitting at 7th position from left end of row and Sahil is sitting at 8th position from right end of row. If both of them interchange their position, then Ruchika gets sit at 16th position from left end of row. Find the total students in the row.
A) 25
B) 24
C) 21
D) 22
E) 23
Option E

Ruchika will be at 16th from left end and 8th from right end. So total = (16 + 8 – 1) = 23
8. Vivan starts from his home in east direction. After walking for 8 m he turns to his right and further walks 7 m. Now he takes left turn and walks 6 m before turning to left again. Now he walks for 3 m and takes a final left turn. He stops after walking 2 m. Find his distance from the starting point.
A) 20√2 m
B) 4√5 m
C) 4√10 m
D) 2√10 m
E) 4√12 m
Option C

Distance = √(122 + 42) = √160 = 4√10 m
9. For final selection, anyone can be selected only after fulfilling all of the following criteria. The person should be in the age range 24 to 30 years as on 01.02.2017. The person should have obtained at least 60% marks in his graduation degree. In the person should have got at least 80% marks in written test of recruitment exam. Also he/she should have obtained at least 40% marks in interview.

B) Only (ii) and (iii)
C) Only (ii) and (iv)
D) Only (iii)
E) Only (ii), (iii) and (iv)
Option C

ii) – in Grad degree 60% is required
iv) – in written test 80% is required.

1. ALKA

ty mam;))

2. Hemant ahuja?

Shubra mam 21,12 Ka hcf Kaise hga

1. Hcf is highest common factor
So 21 k factors are 1 × 3 × 7
And 12 k 1 × 2 × 2 × 3

Highest common factor in both is 3

1. Hemant ahuja?

7 bhi hai highest

2. Hemant ahuja?

Means jo common hi jaise 3 common hai.

1. Yes common

Eg.
21 = 3 × 7

42 = 2 × 3 × 7
Now HCF = 3 × 7 = 21
