    96+ (7)2 = 145
    145+(9)2= 226
    226+(11)2 = 347
    347+(13)2 = 516

  6. A fisherman bought a new motorboat which could travel in still water at 20 km/hr. He has to move to an island 3182km away and come back. How much time will it take for the entire journey if the speed of the stream is 1.5 km/hr?
    320 hrs.
    300 hrs.
    288 hrs.
    150 hrs.
    344 hrs.
    Option A
    Speed of downstream = (20+1.5)= 21.5km/hr.
    Speed of upstream = (20-1.5) = 18.5 km/hr.
    Total time taken = 3182/21.5 + 3182/18.5
    = 148 + 172 = 320 hours

  7. A water tank is filled in 3 hours by 3 pipes X,Y and Z working together. The pipe X is 3 times as fast as pipe Y and pipe Y is 4 times as fast as pipe Z. Then in how much time will pipe Z take to fill the tank alone ?
    36 hrs.
    45 hrs.
    20 hrs.
    51 hrs.
    60 hrs.
    Option D
    Let pipe Z takes x hours to fill the tank alone, pipe Y will take (x/4) hours and pipe Z will take (x/12) hours . Together they filled the tank in 3 hours .
    Now, 1/x + 4/x + 12/x = 1/3
    => x = 51 hours

  8. P and Q start a business by investing Rs.700 and Rs.600 respectively. After three months P withdraw (2/7) of his investment but further three months he reinvested (3/5) of withdraw. If they receive Rs. 726 as a profit after end of the year then find the share of P?
    Rs.250
    Rs.300
    Rs.366
    Rs.422
    Rs.316
    Option C
    Ratio of the investments
    = (700 *3 + 500 *3 + 620*6) : (600*12)
    = 183 : 180
    P’s share = Rs.366

  9. A goods train engine speed is 56km/hr. without any wagon attached. If the reduction in the speed of engine is directly propotional to the square root of the number of attached wagons , when there are 16 wagons attached then speed calculated 24 km/hr. Find the maximum number of wagons train can carry ?
    45
    37
    40
    48
    56
    Option D
    56 – 24 = k(16)^1/2
    => 32 = k*4
    => k = 8
    Now, 56 – 0 = 8(w)^1/2
    => w = 49
    For moving train = 49-1 = 48

  10. There are two fathers i.e Mohan and Mohit and two sons i.e Mohit and Mannu in a family. Ratio between grandfather and grandson is 3:1 . Mohit is 26 years older than Mannu and average age of all three is 50(1/3) . What is the difference between the age of Mohan and Mohit ?
    15 years
    24 years
    35 years
    40 years
    18 years
    Option B
    Mohan = 3x
    Mohit = x+26
    Mannu = x
    sum of their ages = 3x+x+26+x = 151
    => x = 25
    Required difference = [(3*25) – (25+26)] = 24 years
