  6. Smallest side of a right angled triangle is 8 cm less than the side of a square of perimeter 56 cm. Second largest side of the right angled triangle is 4 cm less than the length of rectangle of area 96 sq. cm. and breadth 8 cm. What is the largest side of the right angled triangle ?
    11 cm
    8 cm
    13 cm
    10 cm
    6 cm
    Option D
    Side of a square = Perimeter/4 = 56/4 = 14 cm
    Smallest side of the right angled triangle = 14 – 8 = 6 cm.
    Lenght of rectangle = Area/Breadth = 96/8 = 12 cm
    Second side of the triangle = 12 – 4 = 8 cm
Hypotenuse of the right angled tringle
    = [(6)2 + (8)2]1/2
    = (36 + 64)1/2
    = (100)1/2
    = 10 cm

  7. The simple interest accrued on an amount of Rs. 2,500 at the end of six years is Rs. 1,875. What would be the simple interest accrued on an amount of Rs. 6,875 at the same rate and same period ?

    Rs. 4526.14
    Rs. 5256.21
    Rs. 5156.25
    Rs. 5000.23
    Option D
SI on Rs. 2500 for 6 years at a certain rate = Rs. 1875 SI on Rs. 6875 for the same period at the same rate
    = (1875 * 6875)/2500
    = Rs. 5156.25

  8. The capital of a company is made up of 50000 preferred shares with dividend of 20% and 20000 common shares, the par value of each type of share being Rs 10. The company had a total profit of Rs 180000 out of which Rs 30000 was kept in reserve fund and the remaining distributed to share-holders. Find the dividend per cent to the common shareholders.
    25%
    14%
    10%
    20%
    32%
    Option A
    Dividend for preferred share of company = 50000 × 10 × (20/100) = Rs 100000
    Rest divident amount of company = 180000 – 100000 – 30000
    = Rs 50000
Dividend per cent for common share
    = (50000 * 100)/(20000 *10)
    = 25%

  9. The ratio between the speed of a bus and train is 15 : 27 respectively. Also, a car covered a distance of 720 km. in 9 hours. The speed of the bus is three-fourth of the speed of the car. How much distance will the train cover in 7 hours ?
    600 km.
    854 km.
    756 km.
    630 km.
    250 km.
    Option C
Speed of car = Distance covered/Time taken
    =720/9 = 80 kmph
    Speed of bus = (3/4) × 80 = 60 kmph
    Speed of train = (27/15) × 60 = 108 kmph
    Distance covered by train in 7 hours = 7 × 108 = 756 km.

  10. A and B enter into a partnership with Rs 50000 and Rs 60000 respectively. C joins them after x months contribuing Rs 70000 and B leaves x months before the end of the year. If they share the profit in the ratio of 20 : 18 : 21, then find the value of x .
    3
    8
    5
    2
    4
    Option A
    Investment of A = 50000 ×12 = Rs 600000 Investment of B = 60000 × (12 – x) Investment of C = 70000 × (12 – x) Now, 600000/60000*( 12 – x) = 20/18 => 180 = 240 – 20x => x = 3
