6. The ratio between the speed of a bus and train is 15 : 27 respectively. Also, a car covered a distance of 720 km. in 9 hours. The speed of the bus is three-fourth of the speed of the car. How much distance will the train cover in 7 hours ?
752 km.
760 km.
745 km.
700 km.
756 km.
Option E
Speed of car = Distance covered/Time taken
=720/9 = 80 kmph
Speed of bus = 3/4 × 80 = 60 kmph
Speed of train = 27/15 × 60 = 108 kmph
Distance covered by train in 7 hours = 7 × 108
= 756 km.

7. Sunder purchased an office bag with a price tag of Rs 600 in a sale where 25% discount was being offered on the tag price. He was given a further discount of 10% on the amount arrived at after giving usual 25% discount. What was the final amount paid by Sunder ?
Rs. 400
Rs. 603
Rs. 405
Rs. 302
Rs. 500
Option C
Final amount after giving successive discounts of 25% and 10%
= 600 × 0.75 × 0.9
= Rs. 405

8. A sum of money is accumulating at compound interest at a certain rate of interest. If simple interest instead of compound were reckoned, the interest for the first two years would be diminished by Rs 20 and that for the first three years by Rs 61. Find the sum.
Rs. 5000
Rs. 6000
Rs. 8000
Rs. 3000
Rs. 7000
Option C
Let the principal be P and rate of interest be r%.
Then, principal (when difference between C.I. and SI is for 2 years) is given by P = [20 * (100)^2]/r^2 ——–(1) and difference between CI and SI is for 3 years is given by P
= [ 61 * (10)2 ]/[r2 * (300+r)] ——-(2)
From eqs. (1) and (2),
(20 * 104 )/r2 = (61 * 102 )/[ r^2* (300+r)] => r = 305 – 300 = 5%
From Eq. (1),
P = (20 * 10^4)/25
= Rs. 8000

9. A wants to secure an annual income of Rs 1500 by investing in 15% debentures of face value Rs 100 each and available for Rs 104 each. If the brokerage is 1%, then find the sum of money he should invest .
Rs. 10206
Rs. 10504
Rs. 10203
Rs. 10004
Rs. 10500
Option B
Let Rs x be the face value of debentures,
Then 15% of x = 1500
=> x × 15% = 1500
=> x = 10000
Available value of debentures = (104/100)*10000 = Rs.10400
Now brokerage = 1% of Rs 10400
= (1/100) × 10400
= Rs 104
Sum of money invested = Rs. (10400 + 104)
= Rs. 10504

10. A bag contains 4 red, 5 brown and 6 white balls. Three balls are drawn randomly. If two balls are drawn randomly then what is the probability that both the balls are of same colour ?
32/115
33/100
22/105
31/105
34/103
Option D
n(S) = 15C2 = 105
n(E) = 4C2 + 5C2 + 6C2 = 31
P (E) = 31/105
