  6. Two pipes A and B can fill a tank in 15 hours and 20 hours respectively while a third pipe C can empty the full tank in 25 hours. All the three pipes are opened in the beginning. After 10 hours, C is closed. Now how much time more is required to fill the tank?
    5 hrs.
    3 hrs.
    2 hrs.
    9 hrs.
    4 hrs.
    Option C
    Let the required time be T hours.
    Now part filled by A in (10 + T) hours + part filled by B in (10 + T) hours + part empty by C in 10 hours = 1
    =>[𝑇 + 10]/15+[𝑇 + 10]/20−10/25=1
    =>𝑇= 2 hrs.

  7. A, B and C can do a piece of work individually in 8, 12 and 15 days, respectively. A and B start working but A quits after working for 2 days. After this, C joins B till the completion of work. In how many days will the work be completed?
    3(1/9) days
    5(8/9) days
    2(2/5) days
    5(3/7) days
    7(8/9) days
    Option B
    Work was done by A and b in 1 day
    =1/8+1/12=5/24 2 day’s work of A and B = 10/24
    After 2 day’s A left the work
    ∴ Remaining work =1−10/24=14/24
    One day work of B and C together =1/12+1/15=9/60
    So, the number of days required by B and C to finish work
    =14/24/9/60 =14/24×60/9 =35/9
    ∴ Total days to complete the work
    =2+35/9 = 53/9 = 5(8/9) days

  8. Mahesh borrows Rs.7500 from a bank at SI. After 5 years he paid Rs.3500 to the bank and at the end of 8 yrs from the date of borrowing he paid Rs.6500 to the bank to settle the account. Find the rate of interest.
    9.05%
    7.02%
    4.00%
    5.05%
    8.03%
    Option D
    Total interest
    =(interest on 7500 for 5 years)+(interest on 4000 for 3 years)
    => 7500×5×𝑅 /100 + 4000×3×𝑅/ 100 = 3500+6500-7500
    => 375R+120R=2500
    =>R=5.05%

  9. 85 kg of a mixture contains milk and water in the ratio 27 : 7. How much more water is to be added to get a new mixture containing milk and water in the ratio 3 : 1?
    5 kg.
    8 kg.
    7 kg.
    10 kg.
    4 kg.
    Option A
    Milk in 85 kg of mixture = (85×27/34) kg =135/2 kg.
    Water in it = (85−135/2) kg =352 kg.
    Let x kg of water be added to it.
    Then, (135/2)/(35/2 + 𝑥)= 31
    =>135/35+2𝑥=31
    =>105+6𝑥=135
    => 6𝑥=30
    =>𝑥=5.
    Hence,Quantity of water to be added = 5 kg.

  10. Tickets numbered 1 to 20 are mixed up and then a ticket is drawn at random. What is the probability that the ticket drawn has a number which is a multiple of 3 or 5?

    10/19
    2/11
    5/9
    Option B
    S = {1, 2, 3, 4, …., 19, 20}.
    Let E = event of getting a multiple of 3 or 5 = {3, 6 , 9, 12, 15, 18, 5, 10, 20}.
    P(E) = n(E)/n(S) =9/20 .
