Reasoning: Coding/Decoding Set 8 (New Pattern)

Directions (1-5): Study the following information to answer the given questions:

In a certain code,
‘types windows tired compute’ is written as       ‘v16#     v18#      y04&    e16!’,
‘examine english contact history’ is written as    ‘j20&     g12%     g13%    e20@’,

‘insurance types symbols final’ is written as       ‘u02&    k18@     h14@    v16#’.

  1. What is the code for ‘tired’?
    A) e16!
    B) y04&
    C) v18#
    D) v16#
    E) Cannot be determined
    View Answer
    Option C
    Explanation:

Observe that all words are odd numbered words. The number represents the middle letter of each word.
    Alphabet represents the first letter of each word + 2 like for examine (e + 2 = g). For symbols (s + 2 = u) and so on.
The next letter of each middle letter in word is a vowel.
    Symbol is used for vowels
    a – @, e – #, i – %, o – &, u -!
  2. What is the code for ‘three’?
    A) v18@
    B) v18#
    C) u18#
    D) v20#
    E) Cannot be determined

Directions (6-10): Study the following information to answer the given questions:
In a certain code,
‘shunt three grammar some’ is written as   ‘g#15    t@63      h@35    h#08’,
‘talent demand back theme’ is written as    ‘y@24    g#15      g@48     w@48’,
‘father where too Delhi’ is written as           ‘u@48    w#15     d#15      g#03’, and
‘incredible proceed loan citi’ is written as   ‘k@63    x#08      r#80      o@24’.

  1. Which is the code for ‘comment ’?
    A) e@35
    B) x@63
    C) x#23
    D) d#48
    E) Cannot be determined
    View Answer
    Option B

There are only 2 symbols used in the coding. So you should start by identifying what these mean.
In first and fourth codes we have two @ and two # so here we cant know.
Next if we see 2nd and 3rd codes. There are 3 @ symbols and 3 # symbols resp. Now see the words given. And if they have any similarity.
In second code there are 3 words which end in a consonant and in 3rd code there are three words which end in a vowel.
Check the same in 1st and 4th codes.
So if word end in vowel then #. If in consonant then @.
Next see there are two words in 1st code which start with s and 2 codes which start with h.
Similarly in 2nd code. So this can be used to find out about the letter in codes. Analyze and see that reverse letter is written – A -> Z. B -> Y i.e. in reverse order A to Z -> Z to A.
    For numbers:
    If consonant at last like shunt then n × (n+2) so 5 × 7 = 35
    If vowel at last like three then n × (n-2) so 5 × 3 = 15
  2. What is the code for ‘approximate ’?
    A) z#99
    B) d@45
    C) z#132
    D) c#99
    E) Cannot be determined
    View Answer
    Option A

z for first letter ‘a’ of approximate
    # for approximate end in vowel ‘e’
    11 letters in approximate and words end in vowel so n × (n-2) so 11 × 9 = 99
  3. What is the code of ‘theme’?
    A) g@63
    B) r@32
    C) g#15
    D) g#03
    E) Cannot be determined

    C) k@63 t#48 r#08
    D) o@24 x@48 g#03
    E) Cannot be determined
    View Answer
    Option D

    the – g#03
    credit – x@48
    loan – o@24

mam..2nd coding mai ye number kese formulate hua..and 5 kaha se aya ??and alphabet ka arrangement kese hua?samjh mai nahi arah

    1. Alphabet k liye
See the starting letter of each word. Like shunt me ‘s ‘ hai. S ka number is 19 ( A to Z me)
And agar Z ko 1 likhe to G ka 19 banta hai.
      To S ko likha G
      And number :
Agar word consonant pe end ho ra hai to number of letters n × (n+2)
Like shunt consonant pe khatm ho ra hai. And isme 5 letters hai. To 5 × 7
Agar word vowel pe end ho ra hai to numbers of letters n × (n-2)
Like some. Vowel pe khatm ho ra hai. N 4 letters hai isme to 4 × 2

got it mam …its very toff question ….exam mai ye logic mind ko nahi ayega mera 🙁

        1. These questions are for practice.
In real exam the questions are doable. Its just that u dont have to get nervous at that time. And while solving each question, dont think ki abi tak kuch b solve nhi hua ya kitne tough ques hai and so on.
People usually get nervous after seeing tough ques in exam, for which one should be prepared before.
