Nine persons – P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, and X, are living in a building having nine floors (numbered 1 to 9). They all get different ranking in a test i.e 1- 9th rank, but not necessarily in same order.

Three persons live between V and P. But both V and P neither live on topmost floor nor on lowest floor. V lives on an even numbered floor above P and T, who live on an odd number floor and got an odd numbered rank also. Two persons live between P and Q and same number of persons between T and P. U lives on an even numbered floor. As many persons live between U and V as between W and T. The one who got rank 2, live on top floor, and three persons live between him and R, who got best rank in the test.
