  1. The ratio of age of A to B is 6 : 7 and also the ratio of age of C to B is 17 : 14. If the average of their ages is 43 years, then find the ratio of ages B 3 years ago to age of C after 1 year.
    4 : 5
    2 : 5
    1 : 5
    9 : 4
    3 : 4
    Option E
    Ratio of age of A and B = 6 : 7
    ratio of age of B and C = 14 : 17
    ratio of age of A, B and C = 12 : 14 : 17
    Average of A, B and C = 43 years
    total age = 43 * 3 = 129
    present age of B = 129 * 14/43 = 42
    present age of C = 129 * 17/43 = 51
    ratio of B and C = (42-3) : (51+1) = 3 : 4

  2. The age of Shankar’s father is four times more than the age of Shankar. 6 years hence, Shankar’s father age is three times the age of Shankar. Find the sum of the age of Shankar and his father.
    24
    45
    36
    25
    20
    Option C
    Let the age of Shankar = x
    his father age = x + 4x = 5x
    6 years hence, (x + 6) 3 = 5x + 6
    3x + 18 = 5x + 6
    x = 6
    The age of Shankar = 6
    the age of his father = 5 * 6 = 30
    sum = 6 + 30 = 36 years

  3. The present age of a father is 2 years more than four times the age of his daughter. After 6 years, the age of father will be 2 years less than thrice the age of the daughter. What is the fathers present age ?
    28 years
    34 years
    32 years
    42 years
    56 years
    Option B
    Let the age of daughter = x
    the age of her father = 4x + 2
    After 6 years,
    4x + 2 + 6 = (x + 6) 3 – 2
    4x + 8 = 3x + 16
    x = 8
    present age of her father = 4 * 8 + 2 = 34 years

  4. In a family, the average age of father and mother is 29 years. If the average age of father, mother and their two sons is 20 years, then what is the age of elder son whose age is 2 years more than the younger one ?
    8 years
    9 years
    14 years
    19 years
    12 years
    Option E
    Total age of father and mother = 29 * 2 = 58
    total age of father, mother and their two sons = 20 * 4 = 80
    Total age of their two sons = 80 – 58 = 22
    The age of younger son = 22 – 2/2 = 10 years
    age of elder son = 10 + 2 = 12 years

  5. The average of four persons is 43 years. When a new person come, average age of all the five persons is increased by 2 years. What is the age of new person ?
    52 years
    40 years
    53 years
    30 years
    34 years
    Option C
    Total age of four persons = 43 * 4 = 172
    After joining new person average age of all five persons = 43 + 2 = 45
    total age of five persons = 45 * 5 = 220
    age of new person = 225 – 172 = 53 years

  6. The ratio of present age of P and Q is 3 : 4. After 15 years the ratio of age of P and Q is 6 : 7, then find the age of Q before 4 years.
    25 years
    17 years
    32 years
    42 years
    43 years
    Option B
    Let the present age of P and Q = 3x and 4x respectively.
    After 15 years,
    3x + 15/4x + 15 = 6/7
    24x + 90 = 21x + 105
    3x = 15,
    x = 5
    age of Q before 3 years = ( 4 * 5) – 3 = 17 years

  7. Five years ago, the average age of P, Q and R was 25 years and seven years ago, the average age of Q and R was 20 years. Find the present age P.
    32 years
    25 years
    34 years
    36 years
    26 years
    Option D
    Total age of P, Q and R before 5 years = 25 * 3 = 75
    total present age of P,Q and R = 75 + 15 = 90
    total age of Q and R seven years ago, = 20 * 2 = 40
    total present age of Q and R = 40 + 14 = 54
    present age of P = 90 – 54 = 36 years

  8. The ratio between the present ages of A and B is 5 : 8. After 4 years, the ratio between their will be 2 : 3. If the present age of C is 2 years more than the average present age of A and B, then find the present age of C ?
    25 years
    35 years
    24 years
    18 years
    28 years
    Option E
    Let the present age of A and B = 5x and 8x respectively .
    After 4 years,
    5x + 4/8x + 4 = 2/3
    16x + 8 = 15x + 12
    x = 4
    present age of A = 5 * 4 = 20
    present age of B = 8 * 4 = 32
    the present age of C = (20 + 32)/2 + 2 = 28 years

  9. Four years ago, the average age of A and B was 20 years. Now C has joined with them and their average ages become 32 years. What is the present age of C in years ?
    40 years
    32 years
    52 years
    48 years
    42 years
    Option D
    Four years ago, total of A and B = 20 * 2 = 40
    total present age A and B = 40 + 8 = 48
    total age of A, B and C = 32 * 3 = 96
    age of C = 96 – 48 = 48 years.

  10. The present age of father is 60% more then the present age of his son. If after 4 years, the sum of age of father and son is 86 years, then what is the present age of son ?
    32 years
    30 years
    40 years
    44 years
    20 years
    Option B
    Let present age of son = 5x
    present age of father = 5x * 160/100 = 8x
    after 4 years,
    8x + 4 + 5x + 4 = 86
    13x + 8 = 86
    x = 6
    present age of son = 5x = 5 * 6 = 30 years.
