online atm are connected to the bank/atm network 24 hours…. real time processing occurs in this.. as and when money is withdrawn instantaneously it gets reflected in bank account
offline atm are not connected to bank servers for all 24 hours,, the data is synchronized once in a while.. so suppose you have Rs 500 in ur account, and u withdraw Rs 1000 from offline atm, still u will get Rs 1000, as the atm is not connected to the bank server and atm doesnot knows how much money u have in your account.. so to tackle this problem there is certain limitation of withdrawal from offline atm.. and even if such incidence of withdrawal of more money occurs, bank will charge certain fine for this.
