Bhopal becomes first Indian city to track progress towards meeting SDGs
Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, has become the first city in India to measure its progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

• The city has adopted a Voluntary Local Review (VLR) process, which is a tool that helps cities to assess their progress on the SDGs and identify areas where they need to improve.
• The VLR process in Bhopal was developed in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and a number of other local stakeholders. It involved a comprehensive assessment of the city’s performance on the SDGs, including a review of data, interviews with stakeholders, and public consultations.

Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to come out with an “Integrative Health” policy – Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya
The two day National Ayush Mission Conclave began with a commitment from the Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to priorities ‘Integrative Health’ for the health and wellness of public at large. The two days conclave will pave way for better coordination among stakeholders and strengthen AHWCs functioning.

• Union cabinet minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the conclave in presence of chief guest Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare.
• On this occasion two ICT initiatives of Ministry of Ayush were launched. They were E-Learning Management System (eLMS) and Comprehensive AHMIS, an upgraded EHR system.

Union Minister Dr. L Murugan inaugurates India Pavilion at Marché du Film at 76th Cannes International Film Festival in France
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan inaugurated the India Pavilion at Marché du Film at 76th Cannes International Film Festival in France.

• He inaugurated the Pavilion in presence of Indian Ambassador to France Jawed Ashraf, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of  Information and Broadcasting  Prithul Kumar and stars of the Indian film industry.
• The India Pavilion’ at Cannes-2023 showcases country’s rich culture and heritage inspired by Saraswati Yantra and National flag’s colors and country’s creative economy to the world.

Zomato launches UPI service in partnership with ICICI Bank for real-time payments
Zomato, a well-known online food delivery platform, has recently rolled out its own UPI (Unified Payments Interface) service.

• This real-time payment system has been launched in collaboration with ICICI Bank, and it will allow users to make direct payments to both individuals and merchants.
• With this new payment service, Zomato aims to offer a more streamlined and convenient payment experience to its users.

SBI’s Q4 net zooms 83% to Rs 16694 crore
The country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) reported an 83% jump in net profit at Rs 16,694.51 crore for the fourth quarter of 2022-23 fiscal on higher interest income and low provisioning.

• In the January-March quarter of 2021-22 financial year, State Bank of India’s net profit on standalone basis was Rs 9,113.53 crore.

Amazon Web Services to invest $12.7 billion in India by 2030
Amazon’s cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has revealed its intention to invest USD 12.7 billion in cloud infrastructure in India by 2030. The aim is to meet the increasing demand for cloud services in the country.

• According to AWS, this investment in data center infrastructure is expected to support an average of 131,700 full-time equivalent jobs annually in Indian businesses.

Indian-origin police officer becomes highest-ranking South Asian woman in NYPD
Captain Pratima Bhullar Maldonado, an Indian-origin police officer, has become the highest-ranking South Asian woman in the New York Police Department, after her recent promotion to the rank of Captain.

• Maldonado runs the 102nd Police Precinct in South Richmond Hill, Queens. She was promoted to the rank of Captain last month.

Nepali sherpa scales Mount Everest for record 27th time
A Nepali sherpa has scaled Mount Everest for a record 27th time, beating his own record, a government official and his hiking company said.

• Kami Rita Sherpa, 53, scaled the 8,849-metre (29,032ft) mountain along the traditional south-east ridge route, guiding a foreign climber.
• Kami Rita scaled Everest for the first time in 1994 and has climbed it almost every year since then, except in 2014, 2015 and 2020, when climbing was halted for various reasons.

UN General Assembly declares Nov 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day
The United Nations General Assembly took a significant step towards promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation by adopting a resolution to designate November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day.

• This global initiative aims to raise awareness, educate the public, and foster international cooperation in addressing pressing issues related to transport sustainability.
• The adoption of November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day marks an important milestone in the global efforts to build a sustainable future.
