PM Modi lays foundation stone for redevelopment of 508 Amrit Bharat Stations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country virtually,. The redeveloped would cost more than ₹24,470 crores.
- The chosen 508 stations are spread across 27 states and union territories, including 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 each in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana, and 13 in Karnataka among others.Â
- Mr. Modi informed that these stations were part of the plan – Amrit Bharat Stations scheme in which almost 1300 prime railway stations in the country will be redeveloped. Â
Govt Introduces Ayush Visa For Foreign Nationals For Treatment Under Indian Systems Of Medicine
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) introduced a new Ayush (AY) visa for foreign nationals for treatment under Ayush systems/Indian systems of medicine like therapeutic care, wellness and Yoga.Â
- With this, a new chapter i.e. chapter 11A – Ayush Visa has been incorporated after Chapter 11 – Medical visa of the Visa Manual, which deals with treatment under the Indian systems of medicine and accordingly necessary amendments has been made in various chapters of the Visa Manual, 2019.Â
- The Ayush Visa aims to attract foreigners who wish to undergo Ayush therapy, wellness, and Yoga in India.
Health ministry bans use of ketoprofen and aceclofenac for animal use
According to a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the production, sale, and distribution of ‘ketoprofen’ and ‘aceclofenac’, along with their formulations, for animal use is prohibited under section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 40).
- The recommendation of this ban was made by the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB).
- Reasons for implementing this ban India experienced a significant decline in its vulture population during the 1990s, attributed to the use of diclofenac in cattle.
Kerala launches ‘Shubhayatra’ Scheme to support first-time Overseas Emigrants
The State government of Kerala has launched a groundbreaking scheme called ‘Shubhayatra’. The scheme aims to provide much-needed financial support to first-time overseas emigrants from Kerala, facilitating a positive and productive migration ecosystem.
- With a financial assistance of up to ₹2 lakh, a tax holiday for six months, and attractive interest subvention, the scheme intends to help eligible candidates cover the incidental expenses associated with overseas employment.
- The scheme will provide a soft loan called ‘foreign employability skilling assistant’ which covers preparatory expenses for migration. The loan amount will be proportional to the salary offered to the candidate by their employer in the recipient country.

At Rs 16884 crore, SBI posts highest quarterly profit
State Bank of India has reported its highest-ever quarterly net profit of Rs 16,884 crore for April-June 2023. The net profit, which rose due to higher net interest income, is 178% higher than Rs 6,068 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
- During the quarter, the bank’s advances grew 13.9% to Rs 33 lakh crore from Rs 29 lakh crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The bank’s deposits grew 12% to Rs 45.3 lakh crore from Rs 40.5 lakh crore a year ago.
- However, despite the outstanding results, the bank’s shares declined by nearly 3 per cent due to some sequential indicators showing marginal deterioration.

PNGRB partners with World Bank to chalk out roadmap for hydrogen blending in natural gas
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and the World Bank have joined forces to develop a comprehensive roadmap for integrating hydrogen blending in natural gas and establishing the infrastructure for their transmission through gas pipelines in the country.
- The (PNGRB-World Bank) study comprises of mapping demand and supply of hydrogen, technical assessment of the existing pipeline network for its compatibility, commercial assessment of pipeline sector, identifying bottlenecks in policy and regulatory framework, and framing of roadmap till 2040 for expeditious implementation of hydrogen blending in India.Â
- The regulatory frameworks will be amended to help achieve the national target of 5 million metric tonnes per annum of hydrogen consumption by 2030, according to the statement.

India’s indigenous Nag Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) and the variant of HELINA (Helicopter-launched NAG) Weapon System called ‘Dhruvastra’ are set to be inducted into the Indian army and Indian Air Force (IAF) after clearing all the trials.Â
