In a historic move, Jammu and Kashmir administration and the Dubai Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for real estate development, industrial parks, super specialty hospital and various business enterprises in the Union Territory.
- Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, with the signing of the MoU with Dubai Government, the world has started to recognize the pace with which Jammu and Kashmir is traversing on the development bandwagon.
- He said different entities from Dubai have shown keen interest in investment and the recent industrial package of 28,400 Crore rupees is a testimony towards ensured development of the Union Territory.
Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi launches ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi launched ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme to give ownership rights to people living in houses within the ‘lal lakir’ of villages and cities.
- The revenue department has been mandated to undertake drone surveys of such residential properties in rural and urban areas for digital mapping.
- The CM said that another “path-breaking scheme” Basera is providing relief to people residing in slum areas outside the lal lakir by giving ownership right to them. As a tribute to the freedom fighters of Manipur, the Union government has decided to rename Mount Harriet, an island peak in Andaman and Nicobar islands. It will now be known as Mount Manipur. It was announced by Union home minister Amit Shah.
- Shah said Manipur played a significant role in resisting the British in the Northeast during the 1857 revolution and in 1891. Manipur never gave up and the people there continued to fight.
