# Quantitative Aptitude: Data Interpretation Questions for IBPS PO Prelims – Set 70

Direction (1-5): Study the following pie-charts and answer the questions that follow:
A company wants to have renovation in its office. Its estimated and actual cost of renovation is given.

1. What is the difference between the actual and estimated costs of flooring and painting?
A) Rs 50,400
B) Rs 51,800
C) Rs 42,000
D) Rs 44,200
E) Rs 51,000
Option E
Solution
:
Actual cost of flooring and painting = (20+24)/100 * 450,000 = Rs 1,98,000
Estimated cost of flooring and painting = (24+18)/100 * 350,000 = Rs 1,47,000
So difference = 1,98,000 – 1,47,000 = Rs 51000
2. How much percent more is the actual cost for Flooring than its estimated cost?
A) 8.27%
B) 6.23%
C) 7.14%
D) 8.92%
E) 6.77%
Option C
Solution
:
Estimated cost for Flooring = 24/100 * 350,000 = Rs 84,000
Actual cost for Flooring = 20/100 * 450,000 = Rs 90,000
So required % = (90000 – 84000)/84000 *1 00 = 7.14%
3. What is the average actual cost for interior designing and furniture?
A) Rs 1,08,000
B) Rs 2,02,000
C) Rs 1,03,000
D) Rs 1,13,000
E) Rs 2,13,000
Option A
Solution
:
Actual cost for interior designing and furniture = (32+16)/100 * 450,000 = Rs 216,000
so average = 1/2 * 216000 = Rs 1,08,000
4. If the company decides to spend some extra money on curtains after all renovation is done, it was found that curtains cost 10% of the total money spent on renovation including curtains. Furniture makes how much percent of the total money spent?
A) 15.8%
B) 16.5%
C) 15.2%
D) 14.4%
E) 14.1%
Option D
Solution
:
Actual cost for renovation is Rs 4,50,000. Now it is given that after this money spent (all renovation done), extra is paid for curtains and curtains cost make 10% of total money now. Means all other 5 items makes 90% of total money and those 5 items cost total Rs 4,50,000. So
90% of total money spent = Rs 4,50,000
So total money spent = Rs 500,000
Now furniture’s actual cost = 16/100 * 4,50,000 = Rs 72,000
So now furniture will make 72,000/500,000 * 100 = 14.4%
5. What is the total of difference between the actual and estimated costs of windows and flooring?
A) Rs 6,800
B) Rs 7,400
C) Rs 8,700
D) Rs 5,000
E) Rs 7,000
Option E
Solution
:
We have to find:
Difference between the actual and estimated costs of windows + Difference between the actual and estimated costs of flooring
(10% of 3,50,000 – 8% of 4,50,000) + (24% of 3,50,000 – 20% of 4,50,000)
OR = (10+24)/100 * 3,50,000 – (8+20)/100 * 450000 = Rs 7000 (take positive)

Direction (6-10): Study the following line graph and answer the questions that follow:
Production is in thousands

1. What is the difference between the production of products by company A in 2011 and 2013 together and by company B in 2012 and 2015 together?
A) 1500
B) 1700
C) 16,000
D) 15000
E) 1600
Option C
Solution
:
Required difference = (40+62) – (70+48) = 16 (take positive)
2. Find the ratio of number of products manufactured by company A in 2011 and 2012 together to number of products manufactured by company B in 2013 and 2015 together
A) 2 : 3
B) 2 : 1
C) 1 : 2
D) 1 : 3
E) 1 : 1
Option E
Solution
:
Required ratio = (40+56) : (48+48) = 96 : 96 = 1 : 1
3. In 2013, company A and B sold 85% and 75% of their products respectively. Find the average of number of products not sold by both companies in same year.
A) 52,500
B) 46,210
C) 34,800
D) 10,650
E) 14,980
Option D
Solution
:
In 2013
Products not sold by A = 15% of 62,000 = 9300
Products not sold by B = 25% of 48,000 = 12000
So average = (9300+12000)/2 = 10,650
4. In years 2015 and 2016, both companies are able to sold 90% of their products. If in years 2016, sold items by both companies increase by 5% each than the previous year, then what is the total number of products manufactured by both companies in 2016?
A) 74,900
B) 1,04,100
C) 94,200
D) 84,400
E) 94,500
Option D
Solution
:
In 2015:
Sold by A = 90/100 * 42,000 = 37,800
Sold by B = 90/100 * 48,000 = 43,200
So in 2016:
Sold by A = 105/100 * 37,800 = 39,690
Sold by B = 105/100 * 43,200 = 45,360
Now these are also 90% of total products manufactured
So manufactured by A – 90/100 *x = 39,690, solve, x = 44,100
Manufactured by B – 90/100 *x = 45,360, solve, x = 50,400
So total manufactured in 2016 = 44100 + 50400 = 94,500
5. What is the average of number of products manufactured by company B in all given years?
A) 34,700
B) 56,200
C) 46,800
D) 53,400
E) 42,900
Option B
Solution
:
Required average = 1/5 * (75+70+48+40+48) = 56,200
