GOI launches Credit-linked Subsidy Services Awas Portal
Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs has launched Credit-linked Subsidy Services Awas Portal, CLAP, in New Delhi. The portal provides a transparent and robust real-time web-based monitoring system for credit-linked Subsidy Services, CLSS, beneficiaries. Using the portal, a beneficiary can track his application status in real-time. The initiative would also benefit other stakeholders to work in synergy to release subsidy to beneficiaries on time.
Railways sets up Institute for Financial Management in Hyderabad
The Indian Railway Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) has been set up in Hyderabad, Telangana. This new entity is set up to impart professional training in the management of railway finances.
- The project was conceived and constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) at a cost of Rs 85 crore.
- IIRFM marks an important addition to the list of premier professional institutions in the country in the field of financial management in Indian Railways.
Centre approves setting up of 5 new medical colleges in Rajasthan
The Central government has approved the proposal of setting up five new medical colleges in different districts of Rajasthan.
- According to an official statement, medical colleges will come up in Hanumangarh, Dausa, Tonk, Sawaimadhopur and Jhunjhunu districts of the state.
Madhya Pradesh govt will give 5% reservation to sportspersons in jobs
Madhya Pradesh government has announced 5% reservation to national and international medallists sportspersons in state government jobs.
Etawah Lion Safari inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh
The Etawah Lion Safari, formally known as Etawah Safari Park was thrown open for public in Uttar Pradesh without the lion segment.
- It is a drive-through safari park located in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh and is one of the biggest safari parks in Asia with an area of 350 hectares (860 acres).

PSBs collect Rs 1,996 crore in minimum balance penalty in FY’19
Public sector banks collected Rs 1,996.46 crore in penalty from customers for not keeping minimum monthly balance in savings account in 2018-19. In 2017-18, the 18 public sector banks collected Rs 3,368.42 crore by levying minimum balance penalty.
- This amount was sharply higher than Rs 790.22 crore collected in 2016-17.
U GRO Capital signs loan co-origination partnership with SBI
U GRO Capital, a tech-enabled lender to small businesses, has signed a loan co-origination partnership with State Bank of India (SBI) to offer credit at a competitive rate of interest.

Ind-Ra slashes FY20 GDP growth forecast for fourth time to 5.6 pc
India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) revised its GDP growth forecast for the current financial year (FY20) to 5.6 per cent.
- This is the fourth revision and has come in after the agency had revised its FY20 GDP growth forecast only a month ago to 6.1 per cent.

India bag 28 medals including 13 gold in U-15 Asian Wrestling C’ships
In wrestling, India concluded its campaign at the Under-15 Asian Championships with 28 medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver and a bronze. The superb show by Indian grapplers continued as they won 5 gold on the last day at Taichung, China yesterday. Led by 2019 Cadet World Championships bronze medallist Deepak Chahal, the freestyle grapplers captured four gold while one gold came in the Greco-Roman category.
Sangram Dahiya, Varsha Varman win double trap national titles
Sangram Dahiya and Varsha Varman clinched double trap titles, winning gold at the 63rd National Shotgun Shooting Championship in New Delhi.
- In men’s category, Sangram shot 142 out of 150 targets to leave behind former world champion Ankur Mittal, who managed 137 hits over the five rounds of 30 targets each to win a silver.
- Varsha, in the women’s category of 120 targets each, had 97 to her name to clinch the gold ahead of state-mate Manisha Keer, who had 93 hits winning Silver.

Kerala cadre IAS officer to head UN tourism body
Kerala cadre senior IAS officer Suman Billa is set to join the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) at its headquarters in Madrid, Spain.
- He will take charge next week as Director, Technical Cooperation and Silk Road Development at the D1 level at UNWTO.
Fadnavis submits resignation as Maharashtra CM as BJP lacks majority
Devendra Fadnavis submitted his resignation as Chief Minister to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari as, he said, BJP fell short of the required number of MLAs to win the scheduled floor test.
- His resignation came close on the heels of his deputy Ajit Pawar’s resignation from his post, for “personal reasons”.

Noted writer from Rajasthan, Manisha Kulshreshtha, was awarded the 28th Bihari Puraskar for 2018 for her novel ‘Swapnapash’.
- The award is presented by the KK Birla Foundation and is for writers of Rajasthani origin. It is given annually to an outstanding work in Hindi or Rajasthani published in the past 10 years.
