Directions (1-5): The below bar graph shows the production (in thousands) of different items by a manufacturing firm in 6 different months.

  1. If only 80% of the pencils manufactured in may are suitable for sale and a discount of 10% is given on the MP, then what is the profit% ?
    A) 30
    B) 10
    C) 8
    D) 12
    View Answer
    Option C
    Solution :

    Pencils produced in may = 70000
    suitable to sale = 80% = 56000………total CP ( including defected produce) = 70*2000 = 140000
    MP = Re. 3 per pencil ..discount 10 % so SP =Re. 2.7
    Total SP. 2.7*56000 = 151200 ..Profit = 11200..profit % = 11200*100/140000 = 8
  2. In how many months scales manufactured are greater than average scales manufactured over the given months?
    A) 3 months
    B) 5 months
    C) 2 months
    D) 4 months
    View Answer
    Option D
    Solution :

    Average production over the given months (scales) 265000/6 = 44000(appx)
    jan ,april , may and june are the months .
  3. If in July production of markers increases by 20% , scales by 15% and sharpeners by 12% over the previous month , then What is the total production of all the three products in july ?
    A) 115950
    B) 114950
    C) 119450
    D) 115490
    View Answer
    Option B
    Solution :

    In june markers produced = 20000 ..increase in july – 20% i.e 4000
    scales produced in june = 45000 …increase in july – 15% i.e 6750
    sharpeners in june = 35000…….increase in july -12% i.e 4200
    total in june ..1,00,000 ….increase in july ……..14950 >> increased production = 114950
  4. By how much is the the production of all the items in june less than the production in april (in rupees) ?
    A) 198500
    B) 189500
    C) 158900
    D) 185900
    View Answer
    Option A
    Solution :

    production in april……….june ……change…….amount ( in CP)
    .     pencils……..45………….65………..(-20)………..(-40)
    .      erasers…….30…………35………..(-5) …………..(-7.5)
    .     markers……60…………20…………(+40)………….(+240)
    .      scales………45…………..45…….no change
    .      sharpeners.40…………..35………….(+5)………….(+6)
    total change …………………….246- 47.5 = 198.5 *1000 = 198500 rupees
  5. What is the total revenue generated if all the items produced in February are sold (assume MP to be SP here) ?
    A) 945000
    B) 949000
    C) 995400
    D) 954000
    View Answer
    Option B
    Solution :
    revenue from pencils = 40*3 = 120
    revenue from erasers = 35*2.4 = 84
    revenue from markers = 70*9 = 630
    revenue from scales = 35* 2 = 70
    revenue from sharpeners= 30*1.5 = 45
    total = 949 ….multiply by thousand = Rs. 949000

Directions (6-10): Read the below data carefully and answer the following questions :

The line graph indicates the no. of days taken by six boys to complete a work.

The chart below shows the number of days taken by six girls to complete a work.

  1. If pulkit and paras started to work and after 2 days they were replaced by neha, ruhi and happy then they stopped , how much work is still left ? (Neha, Ruhi and Happy worked for 2 days together)
    A) 1/10
    B) 1/6
    C) 1/9
    D) 1/12
    View Answer
    Option B
    Solution :

    Let work = 180 units
    pulkit’ 1 day’s work ……….20 ( work/ no. of days taken)
    paras’s 1 day’s work ……..20
    neha’s 1 day’s work……….7.5
    happy’s 1 days work……..7.5
    ruhi’s 1 day’s work ……..20
    paras and pulkit worked for 2 days…..(20+20)*2 = 80…remaining work = 100
    now for 2 days ( 7.5+7.5+20)*2 = 70 …..remaining work = 30 ..so 30/180 = 1/6
  2. If all the boys work together then time taken by them will be how much less than the time taken by purvi, hema , neha and happy together to do the work ?
    A) 2 * 2/5 days
    B) 2 * 3/5 days
    C) 2 * 1/5 days
    D) 2* 4/5 days
    View Answer
    Option C
    Solution :

    total days taken by boys to do the work = 180/100 = 9/5 days
    days taken by 4 girls = 180/45 = 4 days …difference = 4-9/5 = 11/5 days
  3. Pradeep and Nikku started work. Pradeep worked at 120% of his efficiency and Nikku at 5/6 of his normal routine work. They started work on alternate days starting with Pradeep. How many days will be taken by them to complete the work?
    A) 10* 4/5 days
    B) 10* 5/6 days
    C) 10* 3/4 days
    D) 11 days
    View Answer
    Option B
    Solution :

    Pradeep’s one day’s work ………..180/12 = 15 units
    N one day’s work…………….180/10 = 18 units
    now, Pradeep works at 120% of 15 = 18 units
    Nikku at 5/6 of 18 = 15 units
    Pradeep + Nikku’s 2 days’ work = 33
    In 10 days ……………….33*5 = 165 units
    Remaining ………15 units ….Pradeep does…18 days a day so to do 15 units He will take 5/6 days therefore total time taken = 10* 5/6 days
  4. How many days will it take to complete the work if Punit does the 25% of the work alone and 10% is done by Nikku alone and the remaining is done by Suman ??
    A) 19 days
    B) 16 days
    c) 13 days
    D) 17 days
    View Answer
    Option D
    Solution :

    Punit’s 1 day’s work ………15 units so to do 25% work ( assumed total work = 180) = 45 he will take 3 days
    to do 10% work..i.e 18 units nikku will take 1 days …noe remaining work = 180-63 = 117
    to do 117 , suman will take 117/9 = 13 days ( suman’s 1 day’s work = 180/20 = 9 units)
    Total days = 3+1+13 = 17 days
  5. Ashu started working alone at his normal efficiency but after 5 days of starting he found that he has done only 25% work so to complete the remaining work on time by how much percentage he should increase his efficiency?
    A) 12.5%
    B) 15%
    C) 10%
    D) 20%
    View Answer
    Option A
    Solution:

    Ashu’s 1 day’s work …180/15 = 12 units
    In 5 days he should have done …60 units
    but he did……………….180/4 = 45 units
    so remaining work = 135 units so complete it in 10 days he should do 135/10 = 13.5 units per day
    therefore increased efficiency … 13.5 – 12 = 1.5 >> 1.5*100/12 = 12.5%

          1. okkk…its a single wrk completed by all of them. i took it as individual no. of days taken by all of them to do work individually..

          2. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            yes it is single work .

          3. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            it happens sometime Dear .:

        1. ohkk but 72 can’t be taken for 15 na …i have taken 180 for all including boys and girls

          1. 15 for ashu and 15 for hema too …72 can’t fit here na so 180 taken
            u can take any number u want

          2. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            it is correct dear ..where you get problem

          3. yup this is where i gt stuck..wen 4 persons are working we take lcm of those 4 only why here everyone’s work in being taken into account?

            but mod says its a single work done by all of them and the number of days is indicative of days individual person worked for those many days on the same work…not the individual person takes days to complete the whole work.

          4. no but if u take LCM of these 5 people as 72 then too the answer will come as 1/6
            it won’t make any difference …it is my method of doing ques ..if u feel comfortable doing traditional method u can go for that too

          5. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            in 2 DI .first qo ,you should place an extra info ,qo looks more appropriate
            If pulkit and paras started to work and after 2 days they were replaced by neha, ruhi and happy they were work for 2 days then they too stopped , how much work is still left ?

          6. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            i know .the sense by which you made this qo but seems it looks improper,many are stuck on that point

          7. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            Yup :

          8. if in question 1st ,if it is only asking about the 4 people pulkit paras neha ruhi happy
            then in that case there is no need to find out the lcm of whole , right?
            but problem is , answer is not coming same from both the cases, which is supposed to be same , isn’t?

          9. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            qo is correct .

          10. $~$PrAdeEP$K$~$~$

            make work equal if not getting i think thats only otherwise its correct…..:))

          11. $~$PrAdeEP$K$~$~$

            yesss off course for better undestanding i meant to say i did it that way only now when i saw the comment then i checked the soln posted in that heheheheh….:)))

          12. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            answer is coming
            by LCM approach .without knowing the whole work how could you find out the their efficiency of per day,so it is necesry

        2. it means he has to complete whole work in the specified time only
          he did 45 in 5 days but he was supposed to do 60 units so to compensate this 15 units’s deviation he will have to work more in next days to complete the work in time.

          so remaining work = 135 and time 10 days so he should do 135/10 = 13.5 units per day now

          and change is 13.5 – 12 = 1.5 and % = 1.5/12 *100 = 12.5

        YES ,You are Rite then,. correct Option is not there…

          1. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            yes you can take 180 or 360 .both are correct here ,we take such value which is minimum possible value of that given no.

    1. @@imvendetta:disqus Hey , i didn’t get the question number 10th’s answer from second last line
      would you like to explain dear?
      so remaining work = 135 units so complete it in 10 days he should do 135/10 = 13.5 units per day
      therefore increased efficiency … 13.5 – 12 = 1.5 >> 1.5*100/12 = 12.5%
      Didn’t get this?

      1. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

        sure .let me explain

      2. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

        Ashu started working alone at his normal efficiency but after 5 days of starting he found that he has done only 25% work so to complete the remaining work on time by how much percentage he should increase his efficiency?
        A) 12.5%
        B) 15%
        C) 10%
        D) 20%

        Ashu’s 1 day’s work …360/15 = 24 units
        In 5 days he should have done=120 units
        but he did 180/4 = 90 units
        so remaining work = 270 units he has to complete it in 10 days
        he should do 270/10 = 27 units per day
        therefore increased efficiency …27-24 ==3==3*100/24 = 12.5%

          1. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

            i think you were stuckd in decimal values.sometimes it complicates values that y i took 360

  2. ??????????||ꀸΞ౮ɿՆɿς||√乇刀り乇イイム™

    Qo no=6

    Let total work=LCM of All members=360
    Pulkit 1 Day work=360/9=40
    Paras 1 day work=360/9=40
    2 day they work togeather=(40+40)*2=160

    Neha 1 day work=360/24=15
    Ruhi 1 day work=360/9=40
    happy 1 day work=360/24=15
    N+R+H worked for 2 days ,=(15+40+15)=70*2=140
    total work completed by them=160+140=300
    left work=60/360=1/6

      1. 9……10………12…….15…….20……..24.. are the number of days taken by all
        360 is assumed total work which is LCM of all these figures.

      1. see i have taken the total work to be 180 units
        so to get one day’s work we ll divide no. of days taken by a person by 180

        so one day’s work of punit will be …..180/12 = 15 units
        similarly we ll get …ashu’s 1 day’s work .. 12 units …………nikku’s work………..18 units
        paras’s 1 day’s work ……………….20 units…..pulkit too ….20 units and …pradeep …15 units

        adding all we get …20+20+15+15+12+18 we get 100
        similarly for girls we ll get 45

    1. BOYS-12……15……10…9….12…..9
      ………………………..180……………
      …………15…….12….18…20..15….20
      15+12+18+20+15+20=100
      180/100=9/5
      GIRL-10…..15…..24……24
      …………………120………
      ……..12………8…….3…….3
      12+8+3+3=30
      120/30=4
      LESS=4-9/5=11/5

  3. Q6–PUL…PAR….NEHA……RUHI……HAPPY
    …..9………9………..24………9………….24

    32/72=4/9 WORK DONE
    REST=1-4/9=5/9
    N+R+H=14*2=28
    28/72=7/18
    5/9-7/18==3/18=1/6

    1. yes jo normal time wo le rha hai usme hi complete karna hai

      5 days me 60 karna tha na but hua kitna – 45 to remaining 10 days me wo 135 krega (180-45 ) = 135

        1. normal time kita leta wo 15 days na
          first 5 days me usne total work (180) ka 25 % kiya means 45
          left work = 135 and days left = 10 days (15-5 )

    1. we ll have to take cost of defected products too…. only then we ll able to get real profit

  5. @@disqus_sqmL5JaJJZ:disqus how you can assume total work is 180 units…any idea behind?

    1. u can assume any figure u feel easy doing calculations with

      I have taken a common multiple of all the values given

        1. see it is given that
          the work is to be done in the prefixed time that is 15 days

          he has worked for 5 days already and completed 25% work
          so in the remaining 10 days he have to do remaining 75% work
