Union Health Ministry launches a learning management information system named SAKSHAM
Union Health Ministry has launched a learning management information system SAKSHAM, Stimulating Advanced Knowledge for Sustainable Health Management.

  • SAKSHAM is a platform for providing online training and medical education to all health professionals in the country. SAKSHAM was launched by the Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
  • This digital learning platform will ensure inclusive capacity building of health professionals. Presently, the platform is hosting more than two hundred public health and 100 clinical courses through online mode.

Telangana govt launches first of its kind State Robotics Framework
The Telangana government introduced a new policy known as the State Robotics Framework. It is designed to establish a self-sustaining robotics ecosystem and to position the state as a leader in robotics in India.

  • The policy aims to provide support for research and development, encourage collaboration between academia and industry, and promote the adoption of robotics technology across various sectors.

India Post signs MoU with CAIT and Tripta Technologies for logistics services
India Post has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Tripta Technologies for logistics services.

  • The MoU will benefit small and medium traders as they will be able to use India Post as a logistics service provider across the country.
  • The partnership between India Post, CAIT and Tripta Technologies will provide shipping and the last mile delivery services to CAIT’s strong trader base and small and medium business in the unorganised sector.

India extends one billion dollar credit line to Sri Lanka by a year for essential imports
In a move to assist Sri Lanka in its recovery from a severe financial crisis, India has extended a credit line of one Billion USD to its neighbouring country by one year. The credit line which was a part of the 4 billion USD emergency assistance provided by India during the peak of Sri Lanka’s crisis last year, was originally set to end in March but has now been extended until March 2024.

  • The extension will provide Sri Lanka with backup funds to pay for essential imports, according to Sri Lanka’s Deputy Treasury Secretary, Priyantha Rathnayake.
  • The initiative to extend the credit line, in which almost 350 million USD is still unutilised, denotes India’s continued commitment to stand with the people of Sri Lanka in facing the challenges of economic crisis and moving towards sustainable economic recovery.

BharatPe rebrands PAYBACK India as ‘Zillion’
BharatPe, a leading fintech company in India, has announced the rebranding of PAYBACK India, the country’s largest multi-brand loyalty program, as ‘Zillion.’

  • This move aligns with the company’s vision to make Zillion a ubiquitous loyalty and rewards program across the nation.
  • Zillion aims to target customers of all age groups and add a new dimension to their shopping experience across various categories and brands.

RBI directs users to pay fee, charges on forex cards in rupees
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) advised that the fees, charges payable in India have to be denominated and settled in Rupees only.

  • A few authroised persons are levying certain fees/charges, which are payable in India on International Debit Cards/Store Value Cards/Charge Cards/Smart Cards or any other instrument that can be used to create a financial liability instruments, in foreign currency.
  • It is advised that fees/charges payable in India have to be denominated and settled in Rupees only.

Telangana: NCBC Chairman Hansaraj Ahir inaugurates Khelo Bharat-Khelo Bhagyanagar-Sports Festival of Hyderabad
In Telangana, Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Hansaraj Ahir inaugurated Khelo Bharat-Khelo Bhagyanagar-Sports Festival of Hyderabad.

  • Speaking on the occasion, he said sports will give strength to the individual to face any challenges. Mr. Ahir said the Central government is implementing several initiatives to promote sports in the country. He stated that sports will leave no space for ill health and ill will.


APPOINTMENTS

Omar Rashid appointed Chair of technical officials committee by BAI
Badminton Asia has appointed Omar Rashid, the Joint Secretary of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), as the Chair of the Technical Officials Committee. 

  • Rashid’s vast experience in his previous role with BAI makes him a valuable addition to the committee, ensuring further advancement of badminton in India.

Fakhar Zaman, Naruemol Chaiwai crowned ICC players of the month for April
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners of the ICC Player of the Month awards for April 2023.

  • Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan wins the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, and Thailand skipper Naruemol Chaiwai secures the ICC Women’s Player of the Month after both produced dominant match-winning performances for their countries in the One-Day International (ODI) format.

Lionel Messi, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce win top Laureus global sports awards
Argentina’s World Cup winning captain Lionel Messi was named the Laureus Sportsman of the Year, while sprint champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce bagged the top women’s honour at the awards ceremony.

  • Messi also received an award on behalf of the Argentina men’s football team, who were named World Team of the Year after their triumph at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
  • The 35-year-old Paris St Germain forward has previously won the award once before, sharing it with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton in 2020.
  • Messi also became the first athlete to scoop both the World Sportsman of the Year Award and the World Team of the Year Award in the same year.
