India’s first semi high-speed regional rail services named ‘RAPIDX’
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has named India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail services as ‘RAPIDX’. The name ‘RAPIDX’ has been selected because it is simple to read and pronounce in different languages.
- These trains will operate on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors, which are being constructed to link important urban nodes across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Country’s first 3D-printed post office coming up in Bengaluru
Bengaluru will soon have India’s first post office constructed using 3D printing technology. The project at Cambridge Layout in Ulsoor is being implemented by Larsen & Toubro, which has experience in constructing 3D-printed buildings.
- The Ulsoor Bazaar post office is being relocated to Cambridge Layout with the aim to reduce the construction cost. The 1,100 sqft building is expected to cost 30-40 per cent less than conventional buildings because of the technological intervention. The post office is being built at a cost of Rs 23 lakh.
Tibet ranked world’s least free country in Freedom House index
A recent report by Tibet Press highlights that, according to the Freedom in the World Index for 2023 published by international watchdog Freedom House, Tibet is the country with the least freedom in the world.
- The report, titled “Freedom in the World 2023 Report,” was released by Freedom House and identified Tibet, South Sudan, and Syria as the “least-free countries” in the world. This is the third consecutive year that Tibet has been ranked at the bottom of the list in Freedom House’s surveys conducted in 2021 and 2022.
- The report stated that residents of Tibet were deprived of basic rights, both Chinese and Tibetan, and that the Chinese government is ruthless in suppressing any signs of dissent among Tibetans.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar signs MoU with IIT Bhubaneswar to use AI in medical science
To integrate medical science with technology for providing a better and more equipped healthcare service, Bhubaneswar based AIIMS and IIT have signed an MoU to promote academic and research collaboration in various areas of health and technology.
- Both the institutes have agreed to extend collaboration in advancing research for public health applications like early diagnosis of disease and outbreaks, artificial intelligence and data analytics, biomedical engineering and technology, disease prediction modelling, digital health, development of tools, equipment and strategies for diagnostic and therapeutic use.

Uganda: MEA Dr S Jaishankar inaugurates campus of National Forensic Science University in Jinja
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar inaugurated the campus of the National Forensic Science University in Jinja, Uganda.This is the first foreign campus of the National Forensic Sciences University.
- He said, the National Forensic Sciences University is an institution of national importance and is the world’s first university dedicated exclusively to forensic sciences. It was established in Ahmedabad in Gujarat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Retail inflation moderates to 16-month low of 5.66% in March
Retail inflation eased to a 15-month low of 5.66 percent in March, slipping below the upper threshold of the Reserve Bank of India’s medium-term 4+/- 2 percent target, largely due to base effect and lower food prices including cereals and milk, data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed.
- Separately released data by the NSO showed factory output grew 5.6 percent in February as against 1.2 percent a year ago and 5.5 percent a month ago, with manufacturing recording a growth of 5.3 percent aided by a low base of 0.2 percent.
India ranks fifth among countries with largest investments in artificial intelligence
India stood fifth in terms of investments received by startups offering artificial intelligence (AI)-based products and services last year, according to Stanford University’s annual AI Index report.
- India received $3.24 billion in total investments in AI startups in 2022, outpacing nations like South Korea, Germany, Canada, and Australia. The US, China, UK, and Israel are among the nations that are listed before India.
- The Index additionally shows that India was the sixth-largest nation in terms of AI investments between 2013 and 2022, with funding for AI companies totalling $7.73 billion over the past ten years. This investment was made last year to the tune of about 40 per cent.

Telangana state government has instituted an Award in the name of Babasaheb Dr. B R Ambedkar commemorating his birth anniversary.
- Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced the award at a public meeting held after unveiling the 125-feet tall bronze statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on the banks of the historic Hussain Sagar Lake.
Bihu performance by over 11,000 folk dancers and drummers in Guwahati enters Guinness World Records
After nearly a month of hard work, the most beloved cultural event of Assam, that is Bihu has been performed in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati.
- 11304 Bihua and Bihuwati performed Bihu Dance at same venue and entered into the Guinness World Records in the category of the largest Bihu dance in a single venue.
Gond painting from Madhya Pradesh receives GI tag
The well-known Gond painting of Madhya Pradesh has been granted the coveted Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which safeguards and acknowledges the work of tribal artists and requires approval from a committee for non-tribal artists to use the art.
