DPIIT, Rural Development Ministry jointly launch ‘One District One Product’ Wall at SARAS Ajeevika Store
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and the Ministry of Commerce with the Ministry of Rural Development launched One District One Product, a program to promote the indigenous crafts and artisans at SARAS Aajeevika Store in New Delhi.

  • Inaugurating the One District One Product Wall, the Additional Secretary for Ministry of Rural Development, Charanjit Singh said that the initiative stands as a symbol of the harmonious partnership between two vital ministries aimed to guide consumers and enthusiasts towards emporiums and magnifying the visibility of India’s exceptional products.

Railways Ministry to establish Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras at railway stations across the country
Railways Ministry will establish Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras at railway stations across the country. It aims to make available quality medicines to all at an affordable price.

  • The Ministry has identified the list of fifty stations for the pilot project. The Ministry said, this will enable passengers and visitors at railway stations to easily access Janaushadhi products.

Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog in collaboration with ISRO launches National Space Innovation Challenge 2023 for all school students across India
Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) has launched the National Space Innovation Challenge (NSIC) 2023 for all school students across the country.

  • Students of classes 5 to 12 have been given an open platform till 20th September. They can innovate and enable themselves to solve modern-day space technology problems.

Digi Yatra to be launched at 6 more airports
Digi Yatra facility will be launched at 6 more airports namely Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati airports in the month of August 2023. The implementation and installation of Digi Yatra infrastructure at these airports will take place in a phased manner.

  • Since its launch by Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel Shri Jyotiraditya on December 1, 2022, at three airports, New Delhi, Varanasi, and Bengaluru, Digi Yatra has been implemented at four more airports, Vijayawada, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata increasing the number of Digi Yatra airports to seven.
  • With the addition of the aforementioned six airports, the total number of Digi Yatra-enabled airports will become thirteen.


BANKING & FINANCE

Exim Bank launches Finserve at GIFT City to offer trade finance products
Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), launched its subsidiary- India Exim Finserve IFSC Private Limited (Exim Finserve), at the GIFT City. Exim Finserve will extend a range of trade finance products to Indian exporters, with a primary focus on export factoring.

  • Exim Finserve will provide a combination of three essential services to exporters: receivables financing, coverage of the risk of non-payment and management of accounts receivable, Exim Bank said.

Unclaimed deposits of Rs 48,461 crore transferred to Depositor Education & Awareness Fund
Unclaimed deposits worth Rs 48,461.44 crore pertaining to 16,79,32,112 accounts have been transferred by the banks to Depositor Education & Awareness Fund as on March 31, 2023, Parliament was informed.

  • Ministry of Corporate Affairs has informed that the amount lying with Investor Education and Protection Fund, as on March 31, 2023, is Rs 5,714.51 crore, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.

India move up to number 3 in FIH rankings after winning record 4th Asian Champions Trophy
With an impressive display in ACT 2023, India surpassed England, leaping one spot to claim the coveted third position. Their tally of 2771.35 points propelled them beyond their rivals, proving their mettle as a force to be reckoned with on the global hockey stage.

  • The resounding success marks the second time India has achieved this remarkable feat, a testament to their relentless pursuit of excellence.
  • Previously, they had earned this prestigious rank in 2021 after clinching a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, ending a four-decade-long wait for Olympic glory.

Pallathuruthy Boat Club lifts 69th edition of Nehru Trophy Boat Race
Veeyapuram Chundan (Snake Boat), rowed by the Pallathuruthy Boat Club lifted the 69th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race held on  Punnamada Lake in Kerala’s Alappuzha district.

  • This is the fourth straight win for the Club, which lifted the trophy in 2018, 2019 and 2022. The race was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid 19 pandemic. More than 70 boats participated in the boat race, named after the first Prime Minister of the country

NABARD support gets GI certification for 5 traditional products in Rajasthan
Geographical Indications (GI) tag approved for five traditional artworks of Rajasthan viz. Jodhpur Bandhej work, Koftagiri Metal Craft of Udaipur, Nathdwara Pichhwai craft of Rajsamand, Bikaner Usta Kala, Hand embroidery art of Bikaner.

  • Dr.Rajiv Siwach, Chief General Manager shared that the project for GI registration of five products is supported by NABARD to preserve the intactness of disappearing artworks. This project will empower local communities by enhancing their income levels.


SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY 

ISRO successfully conducts parachute deployment tests for Gaganyaan mission
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted a series of tests on drogue parachutes, which would play a pivotal role in stabilising the crew module and reducing its velocity to a safe level during re-entry in the planned Gaganyaan human space flight mission.

  • The Gaganyaan mission hopes to safely transport astronauts to Space and back. Drogue parachutes are deployed to decrease speed and stabilise rapidly moving objects.
  • During the three comprehensive tests conducted at the RTRS facility, a range of real-world scenarios were simulated to rigorously evaluate the performance and reliability of the drogue parachutes, ISRO said.
