Maharashtra govt starts property e-registrations, to also introduce blockchain
The government of Maharashtra has started the e-registration of properties to be sold by realty developers in a bid to digitise the process that will also involve usage of blockchain technology soon.

  • With this, Maharashtra has become the first state to enable e-registrations of properties. Initially the facility will be enabled for e-registration of agreement of first sale and resale transactions will not be part of it.
  • The government is planning to introduce blockchain technology to avoid tampering of property agreements registered through the digital mode. This is aimed at verification or original documents and protecting the interests of homebuyers and mortgage lenders.

Andhra Pradesh tops India in attracting investment, gets Rs 40,361 cr till July
Andhra Pradesh has become India’s top industrial investment destination. It attracted investments worth Rs 40,361 crore in the first seven months this year — against the Rs 1,71,285 crore actual investment the country received during this period.

  • According to a report from the central Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade, issued for July, 2022, AP bagged the largest share of investments, followed by Odisha with Rs 36,828 crore.  Both AP and Odisha accounted for 45 per cent of the entire investment inflow to the country this year.
  • The industries proposed for AP from January to July are as follows: five deal with electrical equipment, 19 for chemicals (except fertilizers), 1 metallurgical unit, 13 commercial and household equipment units, 2 fuels-related units, 18 for fertilizers-18, 27 food processing units, seven transportation units, 23 textiles firms, 24 paper and pulp units, 35 cement and gypsum units, 12 mechanical and engineering units, 38 miscellaneous industry units and 26 fermentation units


India, Denmark launch whitepaper on ‘Urban Wastewater Scenario in India’
India and Denmark have together launched a whitepaper on ‘Urban Wastewater Scenario in India’ with Denmark at World Water Congress and Exhibition 2022 in Copenhagen, the NITI Aayog said in a statement.

  • Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat attended the event along with Danish environment minister Lea Wermelin and development co-operation Minister Flemming Møller Mortensen.
  • As per the statement released by the NITI Aayog, the whitepaper aims to holistically capture current status of wastewater treatment in India and potential pathways for future treatment structures, co-creation, and collaborations.


Airtel, IBM partner to offer edge cloud services in India
Technology giant IBM and India’s second-largest service provider Airtel will work together to provide edge cloud services to businesses through 120 data centers across 20 large cities in India.

  • Airtel’s edge computing platform will be deployed as a hybrid environment based on IBM Cloud Satellite and Red Hat OpenShift.
  • IBM Consulting will lead the systems integration for the IBM platform. Airtel and IBM Consulting will also work together to develop new use cases that use Airtel’s 5G connectivity and IBM’s hybrid cloud capabilities to help enterprises address business issues.


Roger Federer announces retirement from professional tennis
Roger Federer(41), one of the greatest tennis player of all time, has decided to bid farewell to professional tennis after the conclusion of the Laver Cup 2022 next week.

  • For a significant amount of time, Roger Federer owned the male grand slam championship record, surpassing his idol Pete Sampras, whose total of 14 titles was once thought to be virtually indestructible.
  • He also broke numerous records that serve as a testament to his excellence and consistency throughout his career, like making it to 36 straight quarterfinals and 23 consecutive grand slam semifinals.
  • Roger Federer has won six ATP Finals, 28 ATP Masters titles, and 103 ATP singles championships. He had a singles record of 1251-275 (82%) in 1,526 ATP tour matches.

Australia’s Rachael Haynes retires from international cricket
Australian women’s cricket team star batter and vice- captain Rachel Haynes announced her retirement from international cricket, bringing the curtains down on an illustrious career.

  • The 35-year-old southpaw, who made her international debut back in 2009, represented her country in six Tests, 77 ODIs, and 84 T20Is.
  • Haynes is the ninth highest run-getter for Australia in both the limited overs formats, having scored 2585 runs in ODIs at an average of 39.76 and 850 runs in T20Is, averaging 26.56.
  • She has served as Australia’s vice-captain since 2018. Since then, Australia have bagged three World Cups — one 50-over and two T20 — and also a gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games this year.


India beats Nepal 4-0 to lift SAFF U-17 Championships title
Defending champions India produced a clinical performance to retain their SAFF U-17 Championship title as they crushed a 10-man Nepal 4-0 in the final in Colombo.

  • Boby Singh, Korou Singh, captain Vanlalpeka Guite, and Aman scored a goal each, to shape a resounding victory in India’s favour.
  • India skipper Guite was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, while goalkeeper Sahil won the Best Goalkeeper awards.


Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park in Darjeeling named as best zoo in India
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP) in West Bengal’s Darjeeling has been adjudged the best zoo in the country, while Kolkata’s Alipore Zoological Garden has secured the fourth position.

  • A zoo directors’ conference was held in Bhubaneswar on September 10 and the Central Zoo Authority released the ranking list in the Odisha capital.There are around 150 zoos across the country.
  • As per the list, the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai has secured the second position, followed by the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysore, Karnataka.

TCS becomes India’s most valuable brand in 2022, says Kantar BrandZ report
India’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has become the most valuable Indian brand in 2022, according to the Kantar BrandZ India rankings. The company rose two places up the ranking to attain the Number 1 position that was held by HDFC Bank since the Kantar BrandZ India ranking was launched in 2014.

  • Kantar, the world’s leading marketing data and analytics company, released the Kantar BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2022 report that values the TCS brand as worth $45,519 million, putting the company at the top. TCS’ brand value jumped 212 per cent in 2022 from 2020.
  • TCS leads a stellar performance by business solutions and technology providers, which now account for six brands in the Top 75 and provide 24 per cent of the ranking’s total value. These brands are playing a growing role in India’s economy, catering to domestic needs as well those of global customers.

Sikandar Raza, Tahlia Mcgrath win ICC Player of Month for August
The International Cricket Council announced Zimbabwe batter Sikandar Raza and Australia all-rounder Tahlia McGrath as the Player of the Month for August in Men’s and Women’s cricket respectively.

  • Raza has become the first Zimbabwe International to receive the honours and has been key for Zimbabwe during the month. Meanwhile, McGrath has also been a pivotal cog in the Australian team’s journey during August.
