India Mobile Congress 2023 to be held in Pragati Maidan
The ministry of information technology and communications announced that the seventh edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC), co-hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), will be held from October 27 -29 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi this year.
- The event will be themed around “Global Digital Innovation” and will showcase 6G, advancements in 5G networks, the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in telecommunications, edge computing, and developments related to India Stack.
Manoj Ahuja launches new campaign for banks underAgri Infra Fund
Agriculture Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Manoj Ahuja launched a new campaign for banks under Agri Infra Fund name BHARAT (Banks Heralding Accelerated Rural & Agriculture Transformation).
- This one month-long Campaign (from 15th July 2023 to 15th August 2023) with a target of Rs 7200 crore was launched through Video Conference attended by more than 100 Banking Executives that included MDs/Chairman, EDs of commercial Banks in public and private sector, Regional Rural Banks, Small Finance Banks, NBFCs and select cooperative Banks.
Assam Government launched “Gajah Kotha” Campaign
Assam government launched “Gajah Kotha” campaign to address the growing problem of Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC).The “Gajah Kotha” campaign involves over 1,200 participants and aims to promote coexistence between humans and elephants.
- The focus of the campaign is on HEC-affected villages in Eastern Assam.
- The main objective is to educate the residents about elephant behaviour, ecology, and the cultural importance of elephants in the region.

Saudi Arabia becomes 51st country to sign ASEAN’s TAC
Saudi Arabia has become the 51st country to sign the ASEAN’s Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). The signing was conducted on the sidelines of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM).
- With the signing of the TAC, Saudi Arabia demonstrates a strong commitment to adhere to the values and principles of ASEAN as embodied in the treaty. The TAC calls for cooperation, collaboration, and upholding international law to promote peace and stability in Southeast Asia and beyond.
China and Russia to hold joint naval drills
Chinese naval vessels set sail this weekend to participate in joint manoeuvres with the Russian military, Chinese defence authorities said.
- Ties between Moscow and Beijing have grown closer since Russia invaded Ukraine last year, a move China has not condemned.The two have ramped up defense contacts, including joint military drills in recent months.
- The latest air-and-sea exercises will take place in the Sea of Japan and are aimed at “safeguarding strategic maritime routes,” the Chinese defense ministry had said.
3,000-year-old ‘condor’s passageway’ discovered at Peru temple site
Archaeologists working in Peru have uncovered a 3,000-year-old sealed corridor dubbed “the condor’s passageway” that likely leads to other chambers inside what was once a massive temple complex pertaining to the ancient Chavin culture.
- Located around 190 miles (306 km) northeast of Lima, the Chavin de Huantar archeological site is among the culture’s most important centers, thriving from around 1,500-550 B.C.
- The Chavin are well-known for their advanced art, often featuring depictions of birds and felines. They date back to the first sedentary farming communities in the northern highlands of the Peruvian Andes, more than 2,000 years before the Inca Empire rose to power.
Typhoon Talim lashes China as extreme weather grips Asia
Typhoon Talim has lashed south-eastern China and displaced 230,000, as large swathes of Asia reel from torrential rain and extreme heat. It disrupted flights and shut fishing villages and coastal tourist spots, but weakened on its way to Vietnam.
- In Japan, some 60 people fell ill with heatstroke, while parts of China are seeing record-high temperatures.Over in South Korea, the death toll from days of torrential rain and landslides rose to 41.

Razorpay launches first international payment gateway in Malaysia through Curlec
Razorpay has announced the launch of its first international payment gateway for the Malaysian market with Curlec, now known as ‘Curlec by Razorpay’.
- In February 2022, Razorpay had acquired a majority stake in Kuala Lumpur-based fintech Curlec at a valuation of $20 million with an aim to fuel its global expansion plans. The balance stake acquisition was to be completed in 2023.
- The company currently works with over 700 Malaysian businesses, including Tune Protect, CTOS, Courts, Mary Kay and The National Kidney Foundation. The new Curlec payment gateway will serve more than 5,000 businesses with a target of RM10 billion ($2 billion) in annualized gross transaction value (GTV) by 2025.

Adani Transmission Limited (ATL) has won the ‘Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2023’ in the Power Transmission Sector from ‘Institute of Directors.’ In 2023, an assessment group comprising Environment, Health and safety, Energy and Climate Change experts assesses over 520 applications.
